Russell Brand On Getting Baptized: 'I Feel As Though Some New Resource Within Me Has Switched On'

After getting baptized over the weekend, Russell Brand is now sharing his experience. In a video, he claimed it was an "incredible, profound experience," and he felt that "some new resource within me has switched on."

The embattled comedian had previously revealed to fans that he would be taking the "plunge" and asked for their experiences. He is still facing sexual assault allegations, which are currently being investigated by the police.

Brand followed through on his remarks about getting baptized and is now sharing how his experience on Instagram.

The disgraced comic took the plunge in the River Thames over the weekend, although it is unclear when exactly it happened.

Speaking with his fans,  the former radio host described the experience as "incredible" and "profound." He added that "something occurred in the process of baptism that was incredible, overwhelming."

Brand also admitted that he still faces the realities of life but feels empowered to deal with them better.

He noted: "Now of course even though it has been less than 24 hours in the interim period I've already felt like irritation: I've got three children, I've got a job, I've got challenges, I still live in the world. But I feel as though some new resource within me has switched on."

Fans of the comedian rallied around him in the comment section of the post, praising his decision to get baptized.

One person wrote, "Your description of baptism for you is beautiful. Thank you for sharing."

Another noted, "This video made me smile! @russellbrand I am so glad you made your choice and like you said no one is perfect but we keep trying every day to serve to the best of our human abilities. Congratulations on your baptism."

Prior to getting baptized, Brand informed his fans of his plan in a video clip on his Instagram page.

The actor looked happy to share the news and asked his followers who have gone through the same process to share their experiences with him.

Russell also mentioned how the opportunity to get baptized was a pathway to relinquish his past life, which he once admitted to having been very, very promiscuous.

"It is an opportunity to die and be reborn and an opportunity to leave the past behind," he said in the clip he posted on the platform.

Last year, Brand spoke up following several sexual allegations leveled against him.

According to DailyMail, the actor admitted he had been "very, very promiscuous" in his past. However, he claimed that all sexual interactions he had at the time were "absolutely always consensual."

The "Despicable Me 2" star said, "I was always transparent about that. Then, almost too transparent, and I'm being transparent about it now as well. To see that transparency metastasized into something criminal that I absolutely deny makes me question, is there another agenda at play?"

More recently, Brand had his first sit-down interview to address the allegations following the beginning of police investigations.

"Attacks like this, a crisis like this – hurtful as it is to be accused of what I consider to be the most appalling crime – to be accused of this is very, very painful and very hurtful," Brand told Tucker Carlson in a video shared on YouTube.

He added, "But I am being shown that there are consequences for the rather foolish way I lived in the past. Though, of course, again, to reiterate, due to the nature of the world we live in, of course, I deny any allegations of the kind that have been advanced."

Brand is being accused of rape, sexual assault, and emotional abuse after four women came forward to level shocking allegations against him.

The incidents reportedly occurred over seven years, during the height of his fame in the entertainment industry.

One of his accusers, referred to as Nadia, claimed that the actor raped her forcefully against a wall in his Los Angeles home and that he did not use a condom during the act.

Another woman claimed that he assaulted her when she was 16 and he was 30, while a third said that he sexually assaulted her while working with him in Los Angeles.

Since the allegations started to swirl, Brand has faced backlash from various sources, which has led to the demonetization of some of his online platforms.
