Donald Trump's public birthday wish to his wife, Melania Trump, has been branded a "performance for voters." Former White House aide Stephanie Grisham criticized Trump's actions and said the former first lady likely "rolled her eyes" at the gesture.
She had earlier mentioned that Melania was not happy about the revelations made during Trump's hush money trial, as they were "new" information to her.
Ex-Aide Slams Donald Trump's Courthouse Birthday Wish To Melania Trump
Last week, Trump publicly wished his wife a happy birthday just before one of the court sessions for his hush money trial.
Since then, the former president has received backlash online for making such a move. Now, an ex-aide, Grisham, who worked with the former first lady, has revealed why she thinks Trump chose to do so.
According to the former aide, it was just a "performance for voters," adding that the billionaire mogul thought it would be a great move to appeal to suburban women and other voters who are not aligned with the major political parties within the country.
She emphasized her point during a chat with CNN's Erin Burnett by noting that Trump and his wife weren't "really birthday people," an observation she seemed to notice when she worked with Melania.
Grisham added, "It had nothing to do with her…just typical, selfish Donald Trump."
How The Former President Wished His Wife A Happy Birthday
“I want to start by wishing my wife, Melania, a very happy birthday. It’d be nice to be with her, but I’m at a courthouse for a rigged trial.”

Speaking to reporters last week, Trump informed them that April 26 was Melania's birthday and that he was wishing her "a very happy birthday."
After the wishes, the billionaire mogul turned the spotlight back to his ongoing lawsuit, ranting about how it has prevented him from spending time with Melania on her special day.
He added, "It'd be nice to be with her, but I'm at a courthouse for a rigged trial. It's a rigged trial. Terrible. But we're doing very well in this rigged trial."
As part of his chat with the press, Trump also revealed his wife's whereabouts, saying she is currently in Florida, presumably at their 17-acre Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach.
He also claimed that he would be heading over to spend the rest of the day with her after the court session finished for the day.
The former president concluded, "I'll be going there this evening after this case finishes up. This horrible, unconstitutional case, when it finishes up."
Former Aide Claims Melania Is Not Happy About New Revelations In The Trial
Grisham also discussed Melania's reaction to the new revelations during her husband's hush money trial.
Some of the revelations revolved around conversations Trump's then-staff had with a former showrunner at the National Enquirer, David Pecker.
"The fact that [Donald Trump] asked about her in the White House, the fact that some … White House staff got on the phone with David Pecker to talk about keeping this secret even further," she said in an interview with CNN.
"Those were new details to me and so I know they were new details to [Melania Trump] and I'm sure she's not happy about it," Grisham said.
Grisham also emphasized that Melania is not at home "crying over it" but that it sure isn't "fun to hear these details."
Former Aide Says Hush Money Trial Is A 'Tough One' For The Ex-President
Last month, Grisham stated that Trump is going through a lot with his hush-money case, despite the look of defiance he has put on in public.
She tweeted on X (formerly Twitter), "The hush $ case is a tough one for Trump personally, & politically it's a reminder that he allegedly cheated on his wife while she was pregnant."
She added, "While nothing seems to touch him w the base, I believe this hurts him w suburban women & independents in the general."
For his hush money trial, Trump is currently facing multiple charges for illegal payments paid to adult star Stormy Daniels to keep details of his alleged affair from coming out.
Donald Trump Slammed The Recently Held White House Correspondents' Dinner
Grisham's comments about Trump come after the billionaire mogul took to his social media platform to blast President Joe Biden and the White House Correspondents' dinner.
Trump wrote, "The White House Correspondents' Dinner was really bad. Colin Jost BOMBED, and Crooked Joe was an absolute disaster! Doesn't get much worse than this!"
During the dinner, Biden subtly referred to Trump as a "6-year-old" while discussing the upcoming presidential elections.
He added, per the New York Post, "The defeated former president [Trump] has made no secret of his attack on our democracy. He said he wants to be a dictator on Day One and so much more. He tells supporters he is the revenge and retribution."
Meanwhile, Jost trolled Trump for falling asleep during court sessions for his ongoing hush money trial. He also praised Biden, saying, "Thank you for your decency."
