In a 2018 video for Self, Raisa shared that she received a sobering warning from her social worker about the challenging recovery process.
"It's going to be hard," the social worker cautioned, explaining that the recipient, in this case, Gomez, would experience a quicker recovery and a visible improvement while the donor would face a more difficult journey as they willingly give up something they don't necessarily need to lose.
Reflecting on the experience, Raisa acknowledged the immense difficulty they both endured, revealing that they both grappled with feelings of depression during the recovery period.
