Sara Gilbert has officially given up on her marriage with Linda Perry.
Per legal documents obtained by The Blast, the Primetime Emmy nominee has filed to make her separation from Perry permanent, years after she filed for legal separation from the latter.
There Is No Chance Of Reconciliation Between Sara Gilbert & Linda Perry
Gilbert and Perry's divorce case was filed on April 23, 2024, at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse. It falls under the category "Dissolution with Minor Children (General Jurisdiction)."
As previously reported by The Blast, the former couple filed for legal separation in December 2019, citing "irreconcilable differences" after nearly six years of marriage.
The duo tied the knot in March 2014, and Gilbert gave birth to their son, Rhodes Emilio Gilbert Perry, a year later.
"The Conners" star informed the court that she did not seek spousal support for herself or the 4 Non Blondes lead vocalist.
Gilbert & Her Former Spouse Are Determined To Co-Parent Successfully
Despite the dissolution of their marriage, sources claimed in January 2019 that Gilbert and Perry were doing their best to navigate the transition as smoothly as possible for themselves and their family.
One person close to the now-exes shared with Closer Weekly how they are successfully maintaining a positive dynamic and remaining on good terms. In their words:
"They were married for five years, and they share their son Rhodes. They don't hate each other and are still communicating. Sara's two other kids, Levi and Sawyer are teenagers, but they like Linda and consider her their stepmom."
After declaring that "all three kids get along and Sara and Linda are committed to making sure Rhodes, who's five, stays close to his older siblings," the insider added:
"Unfortunately, the marriage didn't work out, but they still have to co-parent Rhodes, and there are no plans to avoid each other."
Gilbert & Perry Previously Gushed About Their Relationship
Even though their relationship ended in divorce, there was no doubt in Perry's mind that she had found the one when they first met in 2011.
According to CloserWeekly, the 59-year-old once shared that she and Gilbert instantly connected and even described their romance as "awesome."
That awesomeness resulted in Perry popping the question in the sweetest way her ex-wife would cherish forever. Recounting how the proposal occurred, Gilbert gushed during an appearance on "The Talk":
"She goes to her backpack and pulls out these T-shirts and the first T-shirt says 'will' and then puts on another T-shirt and it says, 'you,' then 'marry,' βme.' It was the most amazing proposal ever."
The 49-year-old would later highlight the feeling of being married as different than expected, emphasizing:
"You feel safer in a way and you feel like you've really committed and it's not about, can I deal with this or not deal with it. It becomes, how will we deal with our relationship together."
Gilbert & Perry Expressed Their Love Through A Music Album
After experiencing the joys of marriage and Perry's support of Gilbert's two children from a previous relationship, the estranged lovers both felt the desire to expand their family.
"I knew when we got married that Linda needed a baby. That even though we were a family β the four of us β she needed to follow a little soul from day one," Gilbert stated on their decision to start a family.
In fact, the singer-songwriter wanted a family so badly that she revealed her intentions of creating a children's album during their first date.
The passion became a reality with the release of "Deer Sounds" in 2015. Gilbert explained that the inspiration for the album stemmed from the arrival of their now-nine-year-old son.
Sara Gilbert Also Ended Her Relationship With 'The Talk'
In addition to leaving her five-year marriage, Gilbert also retired from her chair at "The Talk" after nine years in 2019.
Announcing her decision in an on-air statement, the "Roseanne" performer told viewers, "It's difficult because this is a place that I love, and a place that I'm extremely happy."
During her final episode a few months later, Gilbert addressed the audience with gratitude, saying:
"This show has always been about community and connection, and I want to thank you for letting me belong."
Reflecting on "The Talk" in the aftermath of her exit, Gilbert expressed her appreciation for the show and its supportive environment.
Acknowledging the camaraderie and warmth she experienced while working on the show for nearly a decade, she shared:
"It was just such a great environment, such a friendly place to go every day. So I do miss that."
