Salt-N-Pepa Join Forces With GRANDMA'S Cookies For A Sweet Remix!
In an unexpected but delightful twist, hip-hop icons Salt-N-Pepa have partnered with GRANDMA's Cookies, the beloved brand known for its classic treats. This collaboration promises a unique blend of old-school beats and timeless taste, and one thing's for sure, this team-up is sure to bring a smile to the faces of fans from both sides of the generational divide.
When GRANDMA'S Cookies approached the duo in the hopes of joining forces, there was no thought needed before answering.
“When we got the offer, it was kind of a no-brainer because we love cookies and we love Grandma. It’s a timeless brand and we’re a timeless brand, and it all just goes together perfectly,” Salt exclusively told The Blast.
“We felt like we wanted to make grandma cool and hip like us. Pepa is a grandma. It was kind of like, this works perfectly and we’re so glad that they thought of us.”
For Pepa who’s a grandma now, or rather, “glamma,” she knew right away this partnership was for them.
“It felt good, it felt right like Salt said, the cookies are timeless. They’ve been out forever and we’re timeless, we’ve been out forever,” Pepa said. “I thought all of that was really awesome and what they’re doing and who we are.”
Salt-N-Pepa Recorded The New Jingle For GRANDMA'S Cookies
When it came time to record a new song for GRANDMA'S Cookies, Salt-N-Pepa was up for the challenge. They knew immediately what they wanted to do.
“We wanted it to be vintage Salt-N-Pepa, we wanted the Salt-N-Pepa sound but obviously wanted it to be up to date,” Salt said, going on to say:
“We also wanted it to be commercial because it is a brand situation so we thought light upbeat patterns that are current, as well as cadences that are current and we wanted to use the vernacular from today like grandma’s standing on business and her fit’s so fly, and she’s pullin’ up in her ride, just to make it fun and funny and also current.”
Pepa added, “They wanted that as well. They were like look, we want bold, we want it to be fun so that was a great take on it, so to be able to put a new spin on a song that’s so familiar to us that we all grew up on and know so well, ‘Who Stole The Cookie from the Cookie Jar’ and so it was great revamping the whole nursery rhyme. I never thought I would be doing that. I was so stoked, I’m not gonna lie. It’s such a familiar nursery rhyme, it took me back.”
To make this collaboration even sweeter, GRANDMA'S Cookies is treating cookie lovers to some exclusive content and prizes. From April 23 to June 19, fans will have the chance to win weekly prizes from GRANDMA'S cookie jar, with a grand prize of $10,000!

Pepa Is About To Become A 'Glamma' Again!
If you're a parent, someone at some point in time must have said to you, "Wait until you have grandkids." And Pepa is here to tell everyone that she now understands that phrase.
"People say, 'Wait til you have grandkids,' and I didn't know what that felt like. I'm a mother, what's the difference, but there's actually a different feeling," she told The Blast. "She [her granddaughter] just turned a year, and my daughter is having another one, by the way. She's due in a few weeks."
Pepa said that when her granddaughter sees her, "she lights up" and they have "this cute little bond" unlike any other.
"I'm like, 'grandma's baby' and to hear those words, 'grandma's baby,' it's like I never thought of that but it's a different feeling and I love it," she said. "It's weird that it's a different feeling."
Pepa Shares Advice For Anyone Starting Out In The Music Industry
For anyone just getting their start in the music industry, or thinking about giving it a shot, Pepa said it's important to "be true to yourself."
"I think it's important to kind of just be true to yourself, stay focused on your craft and believe in yourself," she said. "There's a lot of aspects of people doing different things. You don't have to feel like for me to blow up, I gotta do that. Be true to yourself, because that's why people are drawn to Salt-N-Pepa."
She said they've always stayed true to themselves and stayed dedicated to their craft. Because of that, people can "see the realness come through."
"And also, stay on top of your business," Pepa said. "Just be involved in your business and not leave it up to everyone else."
As for upcoming projects, Pepa said, "We always have different things" coming up after being in the business for 30 years.
"We're full of surprises, Salt-N-Pepa," she said.
Balancing Motherhood And Business: It Can Be Done!
While Salt-N-Pepa were at the height of their amazing career, they were also mothers. Balancing a high-profile career with children can be tough, but they said there are ways to do it.
"You can touch on it all, but you can't have it all. It's gonna be give and take," Salt explained, adding:
"Having my kids, the best thing that ever happened to me besides Jesus. I look at other women, especially artists that have done so many things and in my mind I always say, 'It's because they don't have children.' They've been able to go in so many different directions and focus solely on their career."
She explained that while having children is a sacrifice, it's one she's glad to make. And, now that her kids are grown, she has more time to do all the things she wants to do.
They both agreed that one secret weapon to help make it all happen when the kids were younger - grandma!
