Gerry Turner And Theresa Nist Announce Their Divorce
Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist made a bombshell announcement on 'Good Morning America' Friday morning.
“Theresa and I have had a number of heart-to-heart conversations, and we’ve looked closely at our situation, our living situation, so forth and -- and we’ve kind of come to the conclusion mutually that it’s probably time for us to -- dissolve our marriage,” Turner said.
“Get a divorce?” 'GMA' anchor Juju Chang clarified before Turner responded, “Yes."
Nist added, “We have received so much love and support from so many people who watched ‘The Golden Bachelor,’ and I don’t think we can tell you how many people told us that it gave them so much hope. We want none of that to change for anybody.”
This news comes three months after the two tied the knot in a televised wedding ceremony earlier this year.

The News Saddens 'The Golden Bachelor' Fans
Many fans took to the comments section to support Nist and Turner following the divorce announcement. "Sad news indeed. I think the show shouldn’t put pressure on the couples to get engaged," one user shared.
"They should be able to date each other in real life and see how they fit into their lives without having the added pressure to propose and make a long-term commitment. People can find their person and go from there," they added.
Another user thanked Palmer for his kind words. "Thank you, Jesse! It’s a hard situation and we all appreciate your comments because you actually knew them," they shared. "You are the best."
Gerry Turner's Ex Sends Well Wishes
'The Golden Bachelor' star Faith Martin also wished the couple well.
"My heart goes out to both of them," she told PEOPLE. "It's a very difficult situation, and I think it is important to realize that on a show like this, it's so important to be so transparent and so much yourself filled with honesty and truth and ask those right questions."
Martin was the third runner-up in Turner's season.
Gerry Turner And Theresa Nist Say 'I Do'
Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist became the first-ever 'The Golden Bachelor' couple, and they tied the knot in a televised wedding earlier this year.
“I promise to choose you, every day, as the one I love, and never take your heart for granted," Turner told Nist in his vows during the live wedding ceremony. "I promise to shout the 'I love yous' by day, and whisper them softly at night. I promise to keep you safe. And I promise to make you feel comforted in difficult times and abundantly joyful in great times.”
It was then Nist's turn, who began by telling Turner, "I love you."
"I love your heart and your soul. I love your smiles and your laughter. We have so much fun together, we laugh until we cry," she continued. "I promise to be calm in the storm, to comfort you when you're sad, to laugh with you when you're happy, and to stick with you throughout it all, but most of all, to have fun."
"For the rest of the days that we have left on this earth, which could be another hour," she joked.
The ceremony, which was televised on January 4, 2024, was officiated by Susan Noles, a contestant on Turner's season of 'The Golden Bachelor.'
