Kris Jenner's Sister's Cause Of Death Revealed 1 Month After Her 'Unexpected' Passing

Kris Jenner and her family were hit with the "unexpected" death of her sister, Karen Houghton, last month at the age of 65.

The momager took to her Instagram account to share the sad news, offering prayers for guidance "through this difficult time."

Little was known about Houghton's sudden passing when it first happened, but her cause of death has now been confirmed.

The "Kardashians" star took to her Instagram account last month to announce that her sister, Karen Houghton, had passed "unexpectedly" at age 65 but kept mute about information surrounding her cause of death.

According to TMZ, Houghton's cause of death has now been revealed after the news outlet laid hands on her death certificate nearly a month after she died.

Houghton's official cause of death was listed as cardiac arrest and sudden cardiac arrhythmia, with Type 2 diabetes listed as a secondary underlying cause.

The documents also stated that she had been previously diagnosed with bipolar disorder and was cremated following her death on March 19.

In a tribute shared on her Instagram page, the mother of six spoke well of her sister and went ahead to describe how much she'll be sorely missed.

"It is with the heaviest heart and deepest sadness that I share that my sister Karen passed away yesterday unexpectedly," Jenner captioned a carousel of old photos of family members posing with Houghton over the years.

"My heart aches for my mom, MJ, and my niece, Natalie," she continued. "...And I pray that God guides us all through this difficult time. Karen was beautiful inside and out."

The 68-year-old reality TV star went further to describe her late sibling as the "sweetest, kindest, the most sensitive and vulnerable and so so funny."

In her lengthy tribute, Jenenr noted how grateful and happy her sister was for the life she had.

"She always felt grateful and thankful for her life and treasured her family and friends and especially her beautiful daughter," Jenner said of Houghton.

She also shared that Houghton holds a "huge part of [her] heart," adding, "I cherish every single memory we have together."

The "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" alum concluded, "Karen's passing is a reminder that life is so short and precious and tomorrow is never promised."

"We must tell those we cherish how much we love them. I love you, my beautiful sister."

Although Jenner shared kind words following Houghton's death, the sisters' relationship once hit the rocks after the reality TV star seemingly distanced herself from her younger sibling and her family.

At the time, Houghton had lashed out at her severally after Jenner took to the bottle following the crumbling of her  23-year marriage to then-husband Bruce Jenner (now Caitlyn Jenner).

In a previous interview with Radar Online, the late Houghton explained why she lashed out, noting that their relationship suffered with no thanks to Jenner's growing fame.

"I get pissed off at her because she doesn't respond to me," Houghton told the news outlet. "If you think your sister would call you back, she doesn't. And it hurts me. I don't care how much money you have or who you are, you're my sister. I'm not afraid of her."

"I can't get to her anymore. But I guess it's the money," she continued.

"She's a huge celebrity and now she has changed. I'm not saying good or bad," Houghton added. "But I've seen what it can do to Kris… ever since she moved to L.A."

Jenner seemingly confirmed suspicions that they were not so much on good terms at the time as she told the news outlet that Houghton had been "dealing with demons for years" and that their relationship had tanked.

Jenner's fame hasn't come without a twist, though. She has also had to weather a fair share of bizarre speculations and rumors.

Amid O.J. Simpson's recent passing on April 10 to cancer, Jenner notably once cried after rumors surfaced suggesting she had an affair with the controversial former athlete.

During a November 2019 episode of "Keeping Up with the Kardashians," Jenner distanced herself from tabloids speculating a romantic attachment between her and Simpson, who was married to her late best friend Nicole Brown Simpson at the time.

"They printed a story that I was sleeping with O.J.," she told her daughter Khloé Kardashian, per People. "That f-king piece of sh-t. It's really kind of pathetic that when rumors get started, the media gives it life and breath and on the anniversary of Nicole's death. It's so tasteless and disgusting."

"After 25 years, you'd think it just wouldn't be a thing," Jenner said as she was moved to tears. "It's just lie after lie after lie after lie, and it's only so much that one human being can take."
