In a chat with TheMirror, Quinn suggested that Harry "misses" the warmth and simplicity of his relationship with Kate.

"[Harry] really misses that warm, uncomplicated relationship, and he is torn between loyalty to his wife and regret about the loss of the woman he was so close to," Quinn said.

He added, "Losing Kate was Harry's second great loss after losing his mother."

However, according to Quinn, Meghan has a different perspective regarding her relationship with Kate.

"Meghan doesn't feel guilty about Kate because she feels that Kate should've been the one person in the royal family to back her against every difficulty," he claimed.

According to Quinn, the Princess of Wales' cancer announcement took the Duchess of Sussex by surprise. However, he claims that it is still not enough for reconciliation between the ladies due to how "poisonous" the relationship has become.

The royal expert said: "Kate's cancer diagnosis has been a real shock for Meghan, but she can see no way to patch up the relationship simply because it has become so poisonous."

Meghan allegedly refuses to mend ties solely due to Kate's illness. Quinn claims that the former actress insists on an apology from Kate, maintaining that the princess was in the wrong before any reconciliation efforts can commence.

"She also doesn't want people saying that she is trying to make things up with Kate just because Kate is ill," Quin said.

Kate's cancer diagnosis has reportedly left Harry in a "painful place," particularly in light of the revelations made in his bombshell memoir, "Spare," published in 2023.

In an interview with US Weekly, Royal expert Tessa Dunlop emphasized the discomfort Harry faces, stating: "When you do discover that your sister-in-law has cancer and you've written stuff that can't be retracted, that's quite a painful place to be in."

Dunlop said that the Duke and Duchess Of Sussex's previous criticisms of the royal family now appear in a different light as both Kate and King Charles III battle cancer. She wondered whether Harry and Meghan could still present themselves as an alternative to the monarchy.

"They deliberately criticize the monarchy [and then offer] themselves as an alternative to the monarchy. So then when the monarchy is in trouble, we do kind of make a comparison," the expert said. "Can Harry and Meghan really hold themselves off as the caring example now?"

"They're certainly going to have to be careful of their timing with any releases so that it doesn't look opportunistic," Dunlop cautioned. "When that comes creeping in the door, that just reframes everything."

In the aftermath of the release of "Spare," Kate reportedly felt blindsided by the criticisms directed at her and other members of the royal family and showed no inclination to forgive Harry and Meghan for what she perceived as a "public betrayal."

At the time, royal experts predicted that Harry "will come to regret" the scathing remarks he made about his family. Within the pages of the book, the Duke of Sussex discussed Kate's strained relationship with Meghan, detailing a tense encounter over wedding preparations that left his wife "sobbing on the floor."

"Meg asked if Kate was aware of what was going on right now. With her father. Kate said she was well aware, but the dresses. And the wedding is in four days!" Harry wrote.

Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine, contends that Kate and Meghan never had the opportunity to develop a strong bond before the tumultuous events unfolded within the palace.

Seward had previously claimed that Meghan "must have been jealous" of Kate.

"It's something that I could see," she explained to Fox News Digital. "Kate, Harry, and [Prince] William were a really close-knit trio. … They all got on really well. And Harry was constantly around at Kensington Palace having supper with them, borrowing things from their fridge."

Seward continued: "Every time he had a new girlfriend, the first person that would meet her would be Kate, and then Meghan came into the mix, and it was disruptive. It wasn't like the other girlfriends. There [wasn't] that warm feeling. I think it started on the wrong foot."

"Kate wanted to like Meghan, but it didn't work out that way," Seward concluded.
