Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's long-running legal battle has taken a new twist, with the actor insinuating she's been hypocritical for claiming he wanted to use an NDA in the sale of their winery to "control" her.

It comes after the actress alleged that she walked out on selling her share of their Miraval vineyard to Pitt because of a standard non-disparagement clause he included in the contract. She also claimed Pitt was physically and emotionally abusive towards her and their children.

The "Seven" actor has accused his estranged wife of being hypocritical after she claimed he included an NDA in the sale of their French winery, even though she uses it in similar contracts with her staff.

In a recent court filing, Jolie claimed she walked out of the deal to sell her stakes in the vineyard to Pitt for $54 million because of a standard non-disparagement clause in his proposed contract for the sale.

A non-disparagement clause states that a party won't say anything negative about the company or its products, services, or executives—in any form of communication.

Jolie claimed that it was an "unconscionable" attempt by Pitt to "control her" after their split.

Brad Pitt Claims Angelina Jolie Only Seeks To 'Rationalize' Her Betrayal

The recent filing at the LA Superior Court had Pitt's lawyers claim Jolie's objection to the NDA deal was an attempt to "rationalize" her betrayal of the actor after she sold her $64 million stake to Russian billionaire Yuri Shefler in 2021.

According to the Daily Mail, they also claimed that the "Tomb Raider" star asked for Pitt to sign a broader NDA just six months later as part of their divorce settlement talks and asked her to disclose any other NDAs that she entered into with third parties - including her staff.

Pitt's lawyers think her disclosure of other NDAs could "undermine her defense" and discredit her argument about why she walked out of the proposed deal with the actor.

"If Jolie conditioned her continued employment of an individual on that individual's agreement to an NDA covering what they witnessed in her home—including her treatment of her children and Pitt—that would be highly probative of whether she truly believed the provision requested by Pitt was an 'unconscionable gag order,'" the court document read.

The Actor's Lawyers Question Angelina Jolie's Reason For 'Terminating Negotiations'

Pitt continues in the filing, "The same is true with respect to any NDA between Jolie and any third party with whom she is in a relationship or who has assisted with the care of the couple's children."

"To the extent that Jolie requested this third party's silence about her family or home life, particularly in a circumstance where there was no business justification, it would speak volumes about whether Jolie actually viewed Pitt's requested NDA, which was linked to the Miraval business, as the deal-ender she subsequently alleged it to be," the statement added.

Pitt's filing adds: "The scope, terms, and subject matter covered by the NDAs that Jolie has signed or asked a third party to sign are probative of whether Jolie truly withdrew from the negotiations with Pitt because of the NDA he requested, as she asserts."

"By way of example only, if Jolie has required others to sign NDAs that were at least as broad as the one she claims was so 'unconscionable' here, it would severely undermine her claimed excuse for terminating negotiations with Pitt and covertly negotiating with Stoli. Nor is the existence of these documents speculative."

Angelina Jolie Accused Brad Pitt Of Physical Abuse

The filing comes after the "Maleficent" star claimed in a new court document that Pitt was physically and emotionally abusive towards her and their children long before the alleged 2016 plane argument that ended their marriage.

"Pitt's history of physical abuse of Jolie started well before the family's plane trip from France to Los Angeles… this flight marked the first time he turned his physical abuse on the children as well," her attorneys claim in the court papers.

Describing Pitt's denial of any physical abuse between them as "gaslighting," the court papers claim that Jolie has evidence of his "history of physical abuse of the family and control abuse of Jolie" and that their children continue to experience "significant and ongoing post-traumatic stress."

Her attorneys mentioned a "history of abuse, control, and cover-ups," adding that Jolie has "testimony, emails, photographs, and other evidence," which, they say, will show how Pitt tried to conceal his behavior if they come to trial.

Pitt's legal team previously alleged that Jolie worked behind the scenes to orchestrate a secret sale of her portion of their Miraval vineyard to Yuri Shefler. Pitt claimed that the move was a calculated attempt to undermine him, personally and financially, following the acrimonious fallout from their divorce and custody battle.

According to the DailyMail, the former couple had a "mutual and binding commitment" to their $160 million family business. Both agreed never to sell their share without the other's consent, but Jolie sold 50% of her stake to Russian billionaire Yuri Shefler in 2021.

Court documents obtained by the news outlet read, "As will be demonstrated at trial, Jolie's actions were unlawful, severely and intentionally damaging Pitt and unjustly enriching herself."

Miraval, located in the picturesque region of Correns, a village in the South of France, was purchased by the former couple in 2011 for around $60 million, with Jolie funding 40 percent of the deal.
