Lizzo has clarified her thoughts after she told fans "I Quit" last week.
The singer shared a new video in which she explained that her declaration had nothing to do with exiting the music industry but clearing her space of negativity.
Lizzo: 'I Quit Giving Negative Energy Attention'
On Friday, March 29, Lizzo put out a statement on social media asserting that she was getting fed up with "being dragged by everyone in my life and on the internet," adding, "I Quit."
Naturally, the post caused a ruckus amongst her fans, with many pleading with her not to give up her career and take a break from making music instead.
Following that reaction, the "About D—Time" hitmaker uploaded another post detailing what she actually meant by her initial announcement.
Donning a blue one-piece swimsuit and a face glam matching the outfit, Lizzo began, "When I say 'I quit,' I mean I quit giving any negative energy attention." She continued saying:
"What I'm not going to quit is the joy of my life, which is making music and connecting to people, and I know I'm not alone. In no way, shape, or form, am I the only person experiencing that negative voice that's louder than the positive."
The Grammy Awards winner then left a message for her fans, stating, "If I can just give one person the inspiration or motivation to stand up for themselves and say they quit letting negative people, negative comments, win then I've done even more than I could've hoped for."
"I'm going to keep moving forward and keep being me," Lizzo wrapped up the clip, which came with a single red heart emoji in the caption.

When Lizzo seemingly announced her departure from making music, The Blast reported that she touched on a variety of issues.
For starters, she noted that even though all she wanted to do was "make music and make people happy and help the world be a little better" than she "found it," she had learned a bitter lesson.
That lesson laid in her "starting to feel like the world" did not want her in it due to the "lies being told about me for clout & views."
The 35-year-old also pointed to "people who don't know me" continuously making fun of her being plus-size while picking her character and actions apart.
"I didn't sign up for this s—, I QUIT," she emphasized at the end of the message. As already mentioned, the post brought her fans out in their numbers begging her to keep making music.
One person emphatically wrote, "Man FK them!!!!! I was telling the same, the only decision is to say F them," and a second maintained, "Just ignore them. They mean nothing."
Film & Music Stars Also Encouraged Lizzo To Keep Going
The Blast also observed that, just like her fans, multiple celebrities wanted the "Juice" artist not to leave music and they appealed to her accordingly in the comments.
"We love you, Queen," heiress Paris Hilton encouraged along with a crown emoji and a smiling face with heart eyes emoji.
Rapper and actress Queen Latifah similarly told Lizzo, "F— That Do U," while singer-songwriter Aliah Sheffield took a lyric from Lizzo's 2022 hit, "Special," writing:
"'In case nobody told you today, you're special. In case nobody made you believe, you're special' in your own words. Sometimes, we need to be our own cheerleaders, and if none of these comments help, I hope your own words will."
Lizzo Enjoyed A Win In Her Ongoing Harassment Lawsuit
Before Lizzo rocked the internet with her news, The Blast disclosed that she made strides in the harassment lawsuit filed against her by three former backup dancers — Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams, and Noelle Rodriguez.
As detailed in February, Judge Mark H. Epstein of the Los Angeles County Superior Court granted half of the Michigan-born performer's request to dismiss the case. Lizzo and her group, Big Grrl, vehemently denied all allegations made by the former backup dancer trio.
The plaintiffs claimed harassment during their work and touring with the "UglyDolls" voice actress, including on her reality television show "Lizzo's Watch Out for the Big Grrls" in 2021 and her "Special" tour.
Judge Epstein elaborated his decision in a 34-page order, outlining the rationale behind granting some of Lizzo's requests while dismissing others. Additionally, Lizzo sought a jury trial in the matter.
