PETA Labeled As 'Batsh-t Crazy' After Urging White House To Ditch Eggs On Easter

PETA has sent a letter to Dr. Jill Biden, asking the White House to replace the traditional Easter Egg Roll with potatoes -- and people are not happy.
As you probably know, the White House Easter Egg Roll is an annual event held on the White House lawn in Washington, D.C. It typically occurs on the Monday after Easter Sunday. The event typically involves children and their families rolling colored hard-boiled eggs across the White House lawn using spoons.
But instead of hard-boiled eggs, will we see potatoes rolling around in the grass instead?
The White House Easter Tradition
Easter at the White House is a time for families to come together, celebrate the holiday, and enjoy the festivities including the iconic Easter Egg Roll, which takes place on the South Lawn.
Plus, the White House has stations set up for children to decorate Easter eggs with paint, markers, stickers, and other craft supplies.
However, that tradition could look very different this year if Joe Biden and Dr. Jill Biden follow through on PETA's request to use potatoes instead of eggs...
PETA Calls On Jill Biden To Change Easter Tradition
Ahead of the annual White House Easter Egg Roll, PETA sent a letter to Dr. Jill Biden asking the first lady to replace eggs with dyed Easter potatoes.
They claimed that the “White House Potato Roll” would please those who don't consume eggs for health, cultural, religious, or environmental reasons. They also say that using potatoes instead of eggs will prevent supporting factory farms.
“Children love animals and would be sad to learn that the eggs used for fun and games at the White House come from tormented hens whose lives are spent in cages that afford them less space than a standard sheet of typing paper,” PETA President Ingrid Newkirk said in the letter. “Easter should be a time of renewal and joy for all sentient beings—and that means hens, too.”
PETA Appeals Easter Egg Roll
"I’m writing on behalf of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), the world’s largest animal rights organization, with more than 5 million members and supporters in the U.S., to respectfully suggest an appealing way to modernize the White House Easter Egg Roll," the letter addressed to Dr. Jill Biden read. "One that would be truly inclusive and welcomed by every tot who doesn’t eat eggs for religious, cultural, or environmental reasons or because they object to the way animals, including hens whose reproductive systems are exploited for eggs, are raised and killed these days."
"Instead of promoting the deleterious factory farming and slaughter industries, will you please initiate the annual White House Potato Roll?" the animal rights organization added.
PETA added that a potato roll would "encourage empathy and kindness to animals while supporting potato farmers in the U.S. Potatoes are the most popular vegetable in the country," adding that the starch "can be safely dyed."
They then suggested hosting potato sack races and games of hot potato.
Welcome To The Easter 'EGGucation' Roll
While Jill Biden has yet to respond to PETA's potato request, she did announce this year's theme will once again be “EGGucation.”
Easter ‘EGGucation’ Roll will also feature a school house activity area, reading nook, ‘field trip to the farm,’ ‘picture day,’ a physical ‘EGGucation’ zone, a snack time tent, and more,” the East Wing told reporters, per the Washington Examiner.
X Users PETA For Trying To Change White House Easter Tradition
Of course, social media had a field day with this one, slamming PETA for their potato suggestion. "I just read an article about Easter. PETA wants people to use potatoes instead of eggs," one X user wrote, adding, "They don’t realize that eggs haven’t been used for years since the plastic egg was invented."
"Not PETA sending out Easter packages encouraging people to dye potatoes instead of eggs," another said, adding three skull emojis.
A third completely slammed the animal rights organization as they expressed, "PETA is petitioning Jill Biden and the White House to switch out Easter eggs for dyed potatoes this year. Have you seen enough yet? These people are batsh-t crazy &, if they have their way, everything you love about life will be taken from you. They have NO right to do any of it."
It is unclear if Joe and Jill Biden will take PETA's suggestion as neither have commented on the letter.
