One of the greatest jockeys to ever mount a steed will not go the distance in his own marriage after filing for divorce.
According to court records obtained by The Blast, Kent DesOrmeaux filed Wednesday in Los Angeles to end his marriage with Rosie Higgins.
DesOrmeaux and Higgins were married at a small ceremony in the winner's circle at Gulfstream Park Racing and Casino in 2013. Rosie is 15 years younger than the 49-year-old jockey, and they first met while she was working as an exercise rider. It was the second marriage for the jockey, after divorcing his first wife, Sonia, in 2012 after over 20 years of marriage.
DesOrmeaux was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2004 and currently holds the U.S. record for the most races won in a single year, with 598 wins in 1989. He has also won the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes 3x each, and the Belmont once.
He last won the Kentucky Derby in 2008 while racing on Big Brown.
It's unclear what led to the breakup between the two, but ... away their marriage goes.
