The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have evidently put their strained relationship with the Waleses aside as they both reached out to them following Kate's recent announcement that she'd been treating cancer.

According to the Daily Mail, Harry and Meghan "privately" contacted the Prince and Princess of Wales last night, though it is unclear whether this was done via video call, phone, or messages of support.

They appeared to have been kept in the dark as regards Kate's cancer diagnosis, as a source said they had "no idea" the future queen was going through this phase and only gotten wind of her health status when the world got to know about it.

The news that the warring brothers had spoken was revealed by ITV Royal Editor Chris Ship.

It comes after the mother-of-three disclosed in a video announcement yesterday that she had privately been treating cancer and is undergoing "a course of preventative chemotherapy" following her "planned abdominal surgery" in January.

Kate said: "I wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you, personally, for all the wonderful messages of support and for your understanding whilst I have been recovering from surgery."

"It has been an incredibly tough couple of months for our entire family, but I've had a fantastic medical team who have taken great care of me, for which I am so grateful," she continued.

"In January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in London, and at the time, it was thought that my condition was non-cancerous," she noted, adding that "the surgery was successful. However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present."

She went on, "My medical team, therefore, advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy, and I am now in the early stages of that treatment."

She also mentioned that the news "came as a huge shock" and that she and her husband have been "doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family."

The exact nature of Kate's cancer diagnosis and how evasive it had become isn't still known as she continues to recover.

A Kensington Palace source told the Daily Mail that the monarchy "will not be sharing any further private medical information," adding that "the Princess has a right to medical privacy, as we all do."

This follows the same pattern Buckingham Palace took with King Charles as they announced that he too had been diagnosed with cancer but refused to disclose what kind the monarch is battling.

Charles has since spoken out on Kate's announcement, stating how "proud" he is of his daughter-in-law's bravery.

According to People magazine, Kate, William, and their children will miss this year's Easter Sunday service with the royal family at St. George's Chapel in Windsor Castle.

Kate and William have been regular attendees of the tradition over the years but will not attend this year's, which is held on March 31, because of Kate's cancer treatment.

Many royal fans had speculated that the holiday church outing was one she wouldn't miss and had hoped to see her there as the event is considered a private family event rather than a royal duty.

Following Kate's prolonged absence from the spotlight, Kensington Palace also weighed in on her expected return date, noting that she will "return to official duties when she is cleared to do so by her medical team. She is in good spirits and is focused on making a full recovery."

The degree to which Harry and William's strained relationship had sunk was left for everyone to see when they refused to acknowledge each other's presence at a memorial for their late mom, Princess Diana.

Harry and Meghan courted controversy when they made two big announcements at the same time as the memorial.

According to the Daily Mail, William and Harry were lined up to appear for the Diana Legacy Awards at the Science Museum in London, although they weren't supposed to be in the room together, even virtually.

The Prince of Wales attended the event in person and reportedly left around 8:15 pm UK time, while Harry was supposed to join virtually from Montecito. However, late into the night, the Duke's address had seemingly not taken place as he and Meghan were miles across the Atlantic doing their own thing.

It is yet to be seen if the Duke of Sussex will make a trip to the UK to visit his sister-in-law, Kate, as he did when his father's cancer diagnosis was announced.
