Marlon Wayans Breaks Silence On Custody Battle Over Secret 1-Year-Old Daughter

Marlon Wayans has finally opened up about the brewing custody battle over his one-year-old daughter, Axl July Ivory Wayans. 

The actor seemingly vented his frustration, branding his baby mama, Brittany Moreland, as "delusional" for seeking full custody of their child and more than $18k in child support payments.

Wayans is clearing the air about the situation regarding his daughter just days after Moreland slammed him with a petition establishing him as the father of the toddler and asking for a hefty child support payment. 

Kicking off the conversation with The Shade Room, the "White Chicks" star clarified that he was not hiding Axl from the public, stating:

"All love, all God. The baby isn't a secret. The mama has been posted. But I chose to keep the baby's private life private. Ain't nobody's business. Social media is toxic and dangerous, and I'd like to keep her peace."

When asked if he had attempted to request a reduction in the $21k Moreland wants for child support per month, Wayans replied in the negative. The Hollywood legend claimed that even though he should, he was choosing to "remain in love and light."

Wayans then disclosed his displeasure with his baby mama's request for primary physical and legal custody of Axl while granting him visitation rights.

"Do you pay all that money per month and be called a 'visitor?' Do the math," the actor shared. "This is delusional. I will let the lawyers and God do what they do. I'll be creating art from a broken heart. I got nothing but love."

Wayans even went as far as dubbing Moreland "entitled" for wanting more than the $18k that "a good, loving, responsible father" was paying per month for a one-year-old.

Since the exchange was shared on TSR's Instagram page, fans had a field day airing their thoughts on the situation. 

"If I'm paying $18k a month she is the one that needs visitation because that's MY baby now. Her broke a— can't pay ME $18K, she shouldn't be asking me for it," one onlooker commented.

A second person typed, "Marlon is unproblematic. He clearly said that he's handling list responsibilities and will not be reduced to a visitor. He is a father. Can't be mad at that," as a third declared, "Being a dad all over again at 50 is nasty work."

A fourth Instagram user asserted, "He's too old for these types of problems. There are so many ways to prevent unplanned pregnancies," while a fifth noted, "Should have chosen better. At your big big age too. No excuse."

"18k a month for a one-year-old who can't even digest real food yet is insane," another person chimed in.[sic]

The Blast broke the news that Moreland filed a petition alleging that her monthly expenses related to Axl amount to about $22,080.

She itemized the monthly costs, citing $5k for rent, $9k for food, daycare, and miscellaneous expenses, and an extra $1,500 for her daughter's clothing and program uniforms. 

She also asked for an additional $2k per month labeled as "child care" to facilitate her return to work, while referencing Wayans' purported estimated monthly income of $200,000.

Moreland additionally requested that Wayans cover her legal fees and the "reasonable expenses of pregnancy and birth."

Meanwhile, Wayans already shares two sons, Kai and Shawn, with his ex-girlfriend, Angela Zackery, with whom he was in a relationship from 1992 to 2013.

Wayans and Zackery celebrated Kai's arrival on May 24, 2000. Over the years, the 23-year-old has graced various events alongside his father and has become well-known for his transition.

Wayans showed how much he supports Kai's decision during Pride Month in June 2019. Beneath a picture of the father-son duo wearing rainbow footwear, the doting father of three penned:

"Happy pride [rainbow emoji] to my pride and joy. I wouldn't change one effing thing about you. Love you to the moon around the sun through the galaxies and back again." 

Wayans' second child is not left out of the sweet social media tributes. 

When Shawn turned 21 in February 2023, his father posted a touching message about fatherhood. Alongside a throwback photo of them, the comedian told his 6.6 million followers:

"As much as i have accomplished in my career i will truly say God's greatest gift has been my children. My baby boy is turning 21 today and i am so proud of the human and the spirit this young man has. @shawnwayansss you're a natural born leader. You're handsome, kind, humble, confident, sweet, aloof as f— funny, charming lovable and most of all honorable."
