NBA superstar Dwyane Wade surprised the graduating class of Marjory Stoneman Douglas when he showed up to serve as the special guest speaker during the school's graduation ceremony.

"I grew up in inner-city Chicago, and I’ve experienced a lot of awful things. But I’ve never experienced anything to the magnitude of that you guys have experienced," Wade said during his speech.

Wade, who has visited the school several times since the shooting last year that claimed the lives of 17 people, said he was "inspired by you all."

He spoke of the first time he visited the school and what struck him the most.

"I remember walking to the school, and I remember hearing absolutely nothing," Wade said. "I remember thinking to myself, 'I've never heard this kind of silence before in my life.'"

He wrapped up his speech by saying, "MSD Strong," which has been the school's mantra since the shooting.
