Bruce Willis' family and friends are allegedly worried about the actor as his frontotemporal dementia worsens. According to a report, Willis' condition has progressed significantly and led to reduced weight loss and appetite. This comes after it was revealed that Willis no longer has his language skills.
Willis' wife, Emma Heming, now spends all her time taking care of the actor and raising awareness for dementia. Along with Heming, Willis' five daughters and ex-wife Demi Moore are reportedly trying to "stay positive" about his health.
Bruce Willis' Family Is Anxious About His Worsening Condition
In March 2023, Bruce Willis' family confirmed that his previous diagnosis of aphasia has evolved into dementia, which is a condition that affects memory loss, judgment, and language/speech abilities.
Amid his battle with dementia, the actor's close friends and family are allegedly preparing to say goodbye to the "Pulp Fiction" star.
An insider recently opened up to In Touch about how Willis' health has declined significantly.
They said, "He doesn't express hunger much. According to family members, the challenge at home is making sure that he's getting enough to eat, that he's not skipping mealtime, and that his diet is filled with foods that have the chance to improve his health instead of subtracting from it."
The insider further explained that the "sad situation" with Willis and his family is one "that should be familiar to anybody who is dealing with a close family member with dementia or Alzheimer's."
Bruce Willis' Condition Has Progressed Quickly
The update about Willis' dementia comes shortly after insiders reported that the actor has "progressed quickly" in his health problems.
They also claim that Willis' wife, Emma Heming, his ex-wife, Demi Moore, and five daughters are doing their best to spend lots of time with him. The insider further noted that the actor's family and friends are trying to keep him comfortable as he currently lives life in a deteriorated state.
Willis' close friend and "Moonlighting" director, Glenn Gordon Caron, opened up about his condition in late 2023 and said he tries to see Willis a minimum of once a month.
"He's not totally verbal; he used to be a voracious reader — he didn't want anyone to know that — and he's not reading now," Caron told Page Six.
The insider corroborated this account with In Touch and said Willis had worsened further since that time. They added, "All those language skills are no longer available to him. He can't communicate anymore, and he has difficulty recognizing people."
Emma Heming Spends All Her Time With Her Husband
The news outlet's source further explained that Heming spends all the time possible taking care of Willis and ensuring he's as comfortable as possible.
They said, "She continues to be the best person on the planet to look after Bruce, protecting him from the everyday hazards that can be dangerous for somebody with his illness."
The insider also spoke about the period since Willis' diagnosis, which has been a very tough time for Heming.
She spends most of her time raising awareness for dementia and also makes sure to speak regularly about the importance of mental health for those who are primary caretakers.
Recently, Hemming took to her Instagram page to shut down claims made in a headline that her husband has "no more joy" in his life. She stated that the report was misleading and only served to scare fans and loved ones of people battling with dementia.
Bruce Willis' Family Is Trying To Stay Positive
As Willis' condition worsens and reportedly affects his weight and appetite, the insider claims that his family is taking the symptoms as a sign of a downward slope in his health. Despite all this, the "Die Hard" actor's loved ones are still trying to stay positive.
The insider said, "Everybody's staying positive about Bruce's future and hopeful that he finds some kind of comfortable plateau or even, God willing, shows signs of improvement. They know being in the presence of his family seems to bring him a lot of comfort, so that is what they focus on. No matter how much time Bruce has left, they want him to be surrounded by love and happiness."
A source previously spoke to Us Weekly about how the family and friends of Willis have been very supportive.
At the time, they said, "Once Bruce was diagnosed, everyone came together to keep his memory of the family intact. They're all there all the time. This experience has brought the whole family even closer together."
