Kanye West's Daughter North's Debut Album Slammed For 'Elementary School Dropout' Title

At Kanye West's "Vultures" 2 listening party, his eldest daughter, North West, surprised attendees by announcing her debut album titled "Elementary School Drop Out," reminiscent of her father's acclaimed debut album "The College Dropout."

The announcement drew mixed reactions on social media, with some expressing concern about the title's implications. North previously showcased her talent on Kanye's collaboration album in a song alongside Ty Dollar Sign.

On stage at Kanye West's "Vultures 2" listening party at the Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona, his daughter, North West, shocked guests with the announcement of her debut album titled "Elementary School Drop Out," drawing cheers from the crowd.

While she announced the music project, her father, Kanye, proudly stood by her side and later guided her offstage.

North's upcoming album has raised eyebrows due to its title, which resembles Kanye's critically acclaimed debut album, "The College Dropout."

The album achieved significant success, selling over four million copies worldwide. It also earned him three Grammy awards, including Best Rap Album, Best Rap Song (Jesus Walks), and Best R&B Song (You Don't Know My Name).

At Sunday's listening party, North wasn't alone. Her younger siblings, Chicago and Psalm, also made a splash, captivating the crowd as they played on the smoke-filled concert floor.

Following the album announcement, social media users took to X (formerly Twitter) to share mixed reactions. One user expressed concern, writing: "I'm praying she didn't actually drop out of elementary school."

Another speculated, "Even if she wanted to, I'm sure her father would never allow it. Probably just a play on her dad's album [though]. I think it was titled 'College Dropout.'"

A third user reflected on the challenges of early fame, commenting: "And this is real, I love that they've allowed her to be creative and take advantage of her platform but I still worry about being a public creative so early in life is very hard."

Meanwhile, one fan hoped the album would inspire kids to enjoy their childhoods, writing: "I hope she actually does it. We need kids to have a preteen phase and enjoy being kids again, maybe this will be the catalyst for that."

Another noted, "Oh God. She's really her father's daughter."

While "Elementary School Dropout" marks North's official musical debut, she previously showcased her talent on Kanye's collaboration album with Ty Dolla $ign, "Vultures."

On the track "Talking/Once Again," the ten-year-old delivered confident verses, exclaiming, "It's your bestie, Miss Miss Westy! Don't tryna test me. It's gonna get messy. Just, just bless me. Bless me!"

North's charisma shone through in the accompanying music video released on February 7 and during her live performance in Sunrise, Florida, on December 12.

At the time, observers couldn't resist pointing out the striking similarities between North and her father. Some fans noted subtle mannerisms, like her unique "smile and serious face combo," drawing comparisons to Kanye's demeanor.

Another fan remarked that "she is the female version of Ye." North has also previously showcased her talent alongside her father, notably rapping onstage during a Yeezy fashion show in Paris back in 2020.

The album announcement comes a week after Kanye sparked controversy on social media by publicly urging his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian, to withdraw their children from an exclusive elementary school in a message he posted to Instagram.

"Kim take my kids out of Sierra Canyon now it's a fake school for celebrities that are used by 'the system,'" the note read.

An insider who spoke to TMZ revealed that the SKIMS founder was frustrated with Kanye's "constant public attacks and naming of the school because it creates safety and security concerns each and every time for their children."

The source also shared that the mom of four is annoyed that the Grammy-winning artist told their kids that "school isn't necessary," adding that Kardashian enrolled them at Sierra Canyon for its stellar reputation as a "fantastic school" and because "their children need consistency in their lives."
