Blake Harrison, a former member of Pig Destroyer, has reportedly died at the age of 48.

Although he was mostly known for his work with the American grindcore band, which he was a part of from 2006 to 2022, Harrison is also recognized for contributions to Tentacles of God, Triac, Zealot R.I.P., Daybreak, and Hatebeak.

Since news of his passing was announced, fans and industry peers have sent in tributes in recognition of the musician's legacy.

Blake Harrison Dies Age 48

News of Harrison's death was confirmed by Decibel Magazine, a publication he worked for as a contributor on their "For Those About to Squawk" column. He reportedly suffered from heart failure during a minor operation which led to his demise.

The iconic artist's death has sent a shock across the metal music community, with many of his pals and industry peers already pouring in tributes in Harrison's memory.

According to MetalInjection, Metal band Noisem said, "It's with heavy hearts we have to say goodbye to our friend Blake Harrison today. He was a fixture in the scene when we were cutting our teeth as a young band in Baltimore. Blake was always great fun to hang and chat with and if it weren't for the chance encounter meeting him we wouldn't be where we are as a band."

They continued: "If it wasn't for his enthusiasm and belief in us as a band we would have never put out our first record on a label or done any of the crazy s--- that's followed. Blake and Pig Destroyer took us under their wing and stuck us on sick bills frequently which gave us a massive push when we needed it. We can't thank Blake enough for being the kind, funny and generous guy he was over the years and we will miss him dearly."

The Darkest Hour's Mike Schleibaum shared: "Blake Harrison, I'll miss you so much, my heart and soul are in shock. So much love for Lindsey Turnbullet – just frozen in disbelief, his spirit will ride with us no doubt. Will take time to process this."

Fans Pay Tribute To Blake Harrison

Over on his socials, fans of the musician paid tribute to him with heartfelt messages about his loss.

One person wrote, "A great great human being and brilliant musician. He lives forever in love and respect."

Another said, "D--- this sucks. I got to meet him on a little 3 day tour my friends band was doing with Triac and Pig Destroyer. He was super cool."

"F---, I hate this. Blake was my favorite dude to run into anywhere in the world. I'm gonna miss this guy," wrote a third individual.

Another lamented, "Oh no. What a loss. One of the nicest guys I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. [He] had been kind to me and supportive of my work ever since meeting him way back in his Daybreak days. You'll be missed dearly, man."

One more person commented, "So sad of his passing, my condolences to his family, friends and fans of his work."

Blake Harrison Remembered As A 'Genius' And 'Hilarious Creative Force'

In another heartfelt and personal tribute to Harrison, the owner of Reptilian Records, Christoper Xavier Donovan, spoke about the late singer's legacy and kindness. During his career, Harrison worked with Reptilian Records and was featured on several of their releases.

Donovan noted in his statement that Harrison was a "genius," a "true friend," and always enjoyed working with his record label.

"It is with great sadness that I say goodbye to one of my favorites, Blake Harrison, a true friend and creative comedic genius," Donovan began, per MetalSucks. "Blake was always proud of how many times he appeared on Reptilian releases, having been a member of Daybreak, Triac, and the brains behind Hatebeak, before touring many countries in Pig Destroyer."

He continued: "We spent years watching B-movies, discussing the Zodiac Killer, laughing together, and having whole conversations made up of Longmont Potion Castle quotes. We had kept in frequent contact since I moved south and he even visited a few times…"

Concluding his emotional tribute, Donovan said, "He was an original, a character, a hilarious creative force, and a loyal and trustworthy friend. This is a loss to us all, he will be missed and will live on in the hearts, minds, and record collections of many."
