Troy Gentry, half of the country music duo Montgomery Gentry, was killed in a helicopter crash Friday afternoon. He was 50.
According to a statement from the band, the crash occurred at approximately 1:00 PM in Medford, New Jersey. The band was scheduled to play a show there Friday evening.
“Troy Gentry’s family wishes to acknowledge all of the kind thoughts and prayers,” the statement read, “and asks for privacy at this time.”
NJ.com reports the pilot also died in the crash.

Gentry is survived by his wife Angie and daughters Kaylee and Taylor.
