Carrie Underwood Sued, 'Something in the Water' Is Pretty Fishy

Carrie Underwood is being accused of slapping her name on someone else's song after it was brought to her in a pitch meeting, and now the songwriters want her to pay up.

Georgia Lyons and Ronald McNeill are Canadian songwriters who claim in 2013 they signed up with a company to pitch their music out to other artists for big deals, including a song titled, "Something in the Water."

Lyons and McNeill claim the company they hired told them their song was pitched to Carrie Underwood, with the possibility of the work being used on her next album. The duo says they were informed Underwood passed on their song.

Cut to the next year, Lyons and McNeill claim Underwood released a song called "Something in the Water" that was "structurally and lyrically identical, and substantially similar melodically" to their own work.

Underwood's version of the song went platinum and made her a ton of money, and the duo claims they got the shaft on all the success they would have received.

They are suing for all profits Underwood made off the song, and an injunction for her to stop using and distributing the track.
