Sapphie The Pomsky Brings Pawsitive Vibes To Mental Health Awareness

TikTok famous Sapphie the talking pomsky and her humans have not only entertained fans on social media but have also been spreading important messages along the way. 

Sheena and Sunit Shah, Sapphie's human parents, have been sharing their lives with Sapphie on TikTok for years and have built a community in the process. After releasing a successful children’s book advocating mental health with Sapphie as the star, the Shahs are on a mission to continue educating and uplifting others with a second book and a new platform.

After sharing some mental health focused videos with Sapphie, the Shahs received a lot of positive feedback. Because of the attention their mental health videos were receiving, they decided to take it one step further.

“We received such positive feedback from our mental health series that we created for Sapphie which sparked our interest in creating another platform solely to educate, raise awareness, and uplift others on mental and physical health,” Sheena told The Blast exclusively. 

“I am a Physician Assistant that specializes in psychiatry and my husband is a physician that specializes in Internal Medicine. Mindbodyandshahs is an account we created to share our personal stories and educate others. Together and individually, we have authentic conversations about different topics relating to the mind, body, and soul. We weave in motivational content in hopes that it will make a positive impact on someone.”

The couple recently started sharing content on their new Instagram and TikTok pages and will continue to share on Sapphie's TikTok and Instagram as well.

The couple also released their first children’s book featuring Sapphie with messages for the younger generation about feelings. After seeing the success of the book, Sheena is now in the process of completing her second book that aims to encourage children to recognize their self-worth through the eyes of Sapphie.

“Regardless of what happens in life, Sapphie will always remind children to foster self-esteem and love within themselves,” Sheena explained. “This is an important skill that allows children to understand self-acceptance and embrace what they have to offer the world.”

The couple’s mission to bring mental health conversations to the surface more often has been a successful one, and they plan to continue to help anyone who’s struggling or feels alone.

“In our parent’s generation, mental health was not talked about enough and it was considered as a sign of weakness when someone did bring it up. We feel like many people struggle with mental health today because they may have been taught to suppress their emotions when they should be expressing their genuine emotions,” she said.

“We feel like raising awareness and educating the public about mental health conditions can help people understand or realize that they may need help. Vulnerability is a strength, and we want our platform to be a safe space where people know that they are not alone in their struggles.”

The Shahs recently expanded their family with their first baby and Sapphie has taken the job of big sister seriously. Watching the new baby and Sapphie grow up together has been a big highlight for fans and followers. 

While many of their social media followers have been around for a long time and remember the days before the baby, everyone now gets the opportunity to see how life has changed since the baby’s arrival.

“The most challenging part was trying to be as consistent and disciplined as possible when it came to including Sapphie in every part of the baby’s routine. We wouldn’t have it any other way,” Sheena told The Blast.

“Just looking at both of them and knowing that we are lucky enough to be able to raise them brings us so much joy. We are grateful for both of them and I can truly say that I have never loved anyone as much as I have loved both of them.”

Many compliment Sapphie on her big sister skills and just how much she loves her little sibling.

"Sapphie, you are such a good big sister," one follower wrote in the comments. Another added, "Y'all are nice and all but I think Sapphie has found her favorite human."

Sapphie loves to talk with her word buttons and her fans are here for it (especially her favorite word button)! And recently, for the first time ever, Sapphie did some fun sports prediction, and the result was pretty amazing.

“This was the first year Sapphie did Super Bowl predictions, and we were so surprised that she ended up getting 4/4 predictions correct!” Sheena said. “It was really funny because my husband is a true 49er’s fan so he was not happy when Sapphie’s predictions ended up being right!" 

"Imagine if Sapphie could predict the future," one fan wrote.

"I’m convinced that Sapphie is a 100% a fortune teller," added another.
