Richard Lewis, famous for his unique humor and role on HBO's "Curb Your Enthusiasm" has passed away at 76 years old.

Lewis had been suffering from Parkinson's Disease for a while before his demise at his Los Angeles home last night. He revealed the diagnosis in April 2023.

Lewis' painful death was confirmed by his publicist, Jeff Abraham, who revealed that the veteran stand-up comedian passed away after suffering a heart attack last night.

"His wife, Joyce Lapinsky, thanks everyone for all the love, friendship and support and asks for privacy at this time," his rep said in a statement to Deadline.

The late actor had an illustrious Hollywood career that dates back to the late 1970s, after which he soon rose to fame in the 1980s and '90s for his appearances on "The Tonight Show" and the "Late Show With David Letterman." However, his most notable performance was alongside his good pal Larry David in "Curb Your Enthusiasm."

Lewis played a fictionalized version of himself on the hit HBO show, which ran for 12 seasons. However, he pulled out from season 11 in 2021, citing his Parkinson's disease diagnosis as the reason.

"Luckily I got it late in life, and they say you progress very slowly if at all and I'm on the right meds and it's cool," Lewis said in a statement at the time. "I just wanted you to know that that's where it's been at. I'm finished with standup, I'm just focusing on writing and acting. I have Parkinson's disease, but I'm under a doctor's care, and everything is cool, and I love my wife, I love my little puppy dog, and I love all of my friends and my fans."

Throughout his career, Lewis never shied away from discussing his battle with drug and alcohol addiction. He was an avid user of cocaine and crystal meth before becoming sober after being partly inspired by John Candy's 1994 death.
