A video is circulating social media showing smoke surrounding Cinderella Castle at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.
Cinderella Castle, which stands at 189 feet tall, features a blend of architectural styles and is characterized by its spires, towers, and exterior. The iconic structure has been around since the park opened in 1971 -- but Disney fans quickly became nervous after they saw a viral TikTok video showing smoke emulating from Cinderella Castle, which led many to believe it burned down.
Did Cinderella's Castle At Disney World Burn Down?
The TikTok video grabs users' attention with big bold letters that read "BREAKING Cinderella Castle burned to the ground," which has left many in shock.
The clip shows smoke coming from the sides of the Magic Kingdom icon, before panning to smoke lingering around the surrounding areas.
This now-viral video is strictly a rumor, and Cinderella Castle is still standing at Magic Kingdom. The TikTok video comes from a fake Disney news account, Mouse Trap News, and while it does show smoke coming from the landmark and the surrounding areas, it is from the daytime fireworks that are part of the stage show.
"They’re a fake news/tabloid account," one user clarified in the comments section of the viral video.
"Mouse Trap News is the world’s best satire and parody site. We write fake stories about Disney Parks stuff," another wrote.
In the video clip, photos also pop up of the castle engulfed in flames, however, this is likely an AI-made picture as one fan commented, "AI IS CRAZY I THOUGHT THIS WAS REAL."
A later video clip shows the end of Main Street, U.S.A. completely empty, leaving many to think this actually happened, however, Cinderella Castle is missing from the clip due to the foggy atmosphere on that particular day.
Disney Fans Left In Shock After Viral Video Shows Cinderella Castle Surrounded By Smoke
Comments continued to pour in from many fans, including one user who hilariously commented, "I was sleeping in Cinderella room when this happened."
For those unaware, inside Cinderella Castle is a gorgeous suite known as the Cinderella Castle Suite. This room is not available for regular bookings, and is, instead, used for promotional giveaways and special events, so this user's comment is clearly sarcastic.
Another user jokingly added, "I could literally see the flames from my apartment in NYC… so sad."
"Just showed my wife this video and she 100% believed it" one TikTok user said.
As one fan pointed out, "They got sprinklers all over that castles and all over the buildings and that part for when they light off fireworks."
Cinderella Castle is often used as the backdrop for fireworks, stage shows, parades, and family photos, making it one of the most photographed structures in the world! Various European castles inspired it, specifically the Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria, Germany.
It can be found at the end of Main Street, U.S.A. in Magic Kingdom -- one of the four theme parks in Walt Disney World.
