McDonald’s brought back it’s infamous Szechuan sauce for a day, and crowds were so rabid for the stuff it sold out everywhere and some packets are now being sold on the secondary market for hundreds of dollars.
Here’s the backstory; “Rick and Morty” introduced a storyline that revolved around the quest for the special McNugget dipping sauce introduced as a promotional item during the premiere of Disney’s “Mulan” in 1998. The joke got so big that McDonald’s decided to bring back the sauce for a one day promotion over the weekend … which did not end well.
It seems McDonald’s didn’t account for the demand, and the stores which did carry the sauce ran out quickly.
People are so desperate to get their hands on it, the sauce has hit the secondary market via eBay and is currently being bid upwards of $500 for one packet.
There’s good news for everyone that missed out though, McDonald’s apologized for the miscalculation in demand, and is bringing more sauce back!
