Katy Perry recently hinted that her time on'American Idol' is coming to an end, and one 'Idol' alum wants to replace the 'E.T.' singer.
The singer-songwriter began serving as a judge on the competition show during its sixteenth season in 2018. Now, after six years, she is planning on moving on.
With this recent news, many have begun speculating who could take over her chair at the judge's table, with some suggesting 'Me Too' singer Meghan Trainor, 'Paper Hearts' artist Tori Kelly, and others.
Now, one 'Idol' alum is making it known she would love to sit in Perry's chair after the 22nd season airs.
'Idol' Alum Wants To Replace Katy Perry Next Season
Just days after Perry hinted her 'Idol' run was coming to an end, Jordin Sparks, who won the sixth season of the show at age 17, would love to replace the 'Last Friday Night' singer.
"I think this probably will be my last show, my last season for 'Idol'," Perry told Jimmy Kimmel when on his late-night talk show, referring to 'American Idol'. "I mean, I love 'Idol' so much. I know. It's connected me with the heart of America. But I feel like I need to go out and feel that pulse to my own beat. You know what I'm saying, Jimmy?"
Following the news, Sparks took to X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, tagging the competition show as she expressed her interest in judging the upcoming seasons.
"Oh hiiii @AmericanIdol โI hear a seat opened up at the judge's table! Iโm putting my name in the hat!"

As a third expressed, "That would be smart business for sure."

"OMG this would be amazing!" another chimed in.
Another fan said, "'Idol' winner, relevant artist as a judge! Absolutely makes sense. Please do this for the FANS."
One had an idea of bringing all past 'Idol' winners to judge -- even if it's just for one season. "I always said they should do at least 1 if not all the seasons with past winners! Imagine you, Kelly [Clarkson], Carrie [Underwood] & Fantasia," they said.

While no replacement has been announced, Katy Perry will still judge for the upcoming 22nd season of 'American Idol', which premieres Sunday at 8 p.m. ET on ABC. Episodes will be available to stream the next day on Hulu.
