Brittany Mahomes has been named the 2024 Rookie for the 60th anniversary issue of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit.
Unfortunately, the good news did not go down well with many people, who ensured that their displeasure was aired via social media. In response, the former soccer player shared an uplifting message reminding her fans to ignore the noise and focus on themselves.
Brittany Mahomes Used A Sultry Photo To Address The Negative Reception Of Her Big News
Barely 24 hours after Brittany posted a joint video with Sports Illustrated announcing that she was in Belize shooting her "rookie season with Sports Illustrated," her comments were flooded with criticism.
While one person wondered, "Why tf is she in sports illustrated," another noted that it was in "bad taste" that the wife of Patrick Mahomes and "mother of small children" was "showing it all for all the world to see."
"But why? Never would have made the list if it wasn't for her husband. She ain't making it on her credentials for sure," a third troll asserted, as a fourth claimed, "I hope she thanks Pat because without his name, none of this would happen."
The barrage of negative reviews seemingly touched Brittany, who took to her Instagram Story later on Thursday to post a picture of her in a red swimsuit. The one-piece featured a massive frontal cut-out that highlighted her fit figure.
Her blonde hair was styled into a messy look, with tendrils dropping in front of her eyes. The 28-year-old placed both hands atop her head while staring sultrily at the camera.
Across the image, Brittany informed her 1.8 million followers, "I'm here to tell you. People will dislike you. People will love you. Dont let any of that define you KEEP SHINING and being YOU."
It is worth noting that Sports Illustrated had nothing but praise for the mother of two in their joint announcement. As reported by The Blast, the sports magazine stated:
"Brittany Mahomes is your newest 2024 'Sports Illustrated' Swimsuit Rookie! Owner of the Kansas City Current NWSL team, former pro athlete, wife, and mother, Brittany emerges as the epitome of a modern-day powerhouse."
After recognizing Brittany as the founder of the world's first dedicated stadium for women's sports, Sports Illustrated disclosed that her journey has exceeded "all expectations," thus inspiring others through her determination and tenacity.
"We are proud to welcome her to the SI Swimsuit family, where she will undoubtedly continue to empower women worldwide," the outfit further proclaimed.
Not Brittany Mahomes' First Rodeo
Shortly before she defended herself against internet trolls, Brittany gained media attention for sticking up for her new best friend, Taylor Swift.
As reported earlier, the pop singer-songwriter has faced accusations of negatively impacting the sport and being responsible for the Kansas City Chiefs' poor performance during the regular season.
To support her friend through the attack, Brittany emphasized Taylor's lack of influence on football's integrity by highlighting Charles Barkley's supportive remarks defending the "Blank Space" hitmaker.
Taking to her Instagram Story, she wrote, "Let. Them. Know" alongside a screenshot of the former basketball star's comment, which read, "If you're screaming at Taylor Swift saying she ruined [football], you're just a loser."
In case you missed it, Brittany and Taylor have developed a close friendship in recent months, spurred by the Grammy Awards winner's relationship with Travis Kelce, who equally shares a close bond with his Kansas City Chiefs teammate Patrick.
Additionally, The Blast reported that the pair have since been photographed together at numerous NFL games, notably during the playoffs, where they enthusiastically supported their partners' team from the stands.
