King Charles Diagnosed With Cancer After His Recent Hospitalization

King Charles III has reportedly been diagnosed with cancer shortly after he was hospitalized for an "enlarged prostate."

According to a statement by Buckingham Palace, the king will be taking some time off his royal duties to focus on his health and quickly begin treatment.

Shortly after his release from the London Clinic following his "enlarged prostate" diagnosis, it's been revealed that King Charles has cancer.

However, a statement from Buckingham Palace notes that the king's cancer diagnosis is not related to his "enlarged prostate" surgery, and neither is it prostate cancer. In fact, the cancer was discovered during his recent treatment at the London Clinic.

"During The King's recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted. Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer," the Buckingham Palace statement tonight read.

It continued, "His Majesty has today commenced a schedule of regular treatments, during which time he has been advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties. Throughout this period, His Majesty will continue to undertake State business and official paperwork as usual."

The palace's statement further noted that "The King is grateful to his medical team for their swift intervention, which was made possible thanks to his recent hospital procedure. He remains wholly positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible."

"His Majesty has chosen to share his diagnosis to prevent speculation and in the hope it may assist public understanding for all those around the world who are affected by cancer," it concluded.

It should be noted that the type of cancer has not yet been disclosed.

The king's shocking diagnosis came after he was released from the hospital following his treatment for an "enlarged prostate."

In January, Buckingham Palace released a statement that read, "In common with thousands of men each year, The King has sought treatment for an enlarged prostate. His Majesty’s condition is benign, and he will attend hospital next week for a corrective procedure.”

“The King’s public engagements will be postponed for a short period of recuperation,” the statement concluded.

Shortly after, they announced that King Charles was "admitted to a London hospital for scheduled treatment. His Majesty would like to thank all those who have sent their good wishes over the past week.”

Charles was admitted to the same hospital where his daughter-in-law, Kate Middleton, underwent "abdominal surgery." The king's stay at the hospital was not long as he was soon released to recover at his home in Windsor.

"His majesty would like to thank the medical team and all those involved in supporting his hospital visit and is grateful for all the kind messages he has received in recent days," a statement from the palace read at the time.

Following news of his cancer diagnosis, President Joe Biden revealed that he had learned of the king's health status and noted that he would get in contact with him as he was "concerned."

The king received other messages of support and concern online, with multiple people wishing him a speedy recovery.

One such message came from the British Cardinal of the Catholic Church and Cardinal Archbishop of Westminster, Cardinal Nichols.

Nichols said, “I am saddened to learn that King Charles is now facing a time of treatment for cancer. On behalf of the entire Catholic Community in England and Wales, I offer His Majesty our warmest wishes and assurance of steadfast prayers for his full and speedy recovery. God bless the King.”

Another message came from Dr. Shola Mos-Shogbamimu, a British author and known critic of the royal family.

Dr. Shola wrote on X, “Cancer took my father in his prime. I hate it with a passion. On this, King Charles has my sympathy. I wish him & thousands across [the] UK diagnosed with cancer full recovery. Watching the news & the media has already started whitewashing his legacy as ‘Monarch’ & painting him as a saint for ‘working’ when he should be focused on his recovery. ”
