The "Legend Has It" rapper was clearly shocked by the development, with his team yelling, "What the f--k?" as they walked out while a bystander yelled, "Free Mike." According to a report, the details of the arrest remain quite unclear at the moment, but it was in relation to a "misdemeanor" and Killer Mike might return to the award ceremony.

"An official tells someone on his team that it’s possible he may be released later tonight from the arena. Unclear if he’s being booked here and what he’s charged with," one reporter wrote.

In a follow-up tweet, the reporter confirmed that an official present at the scene told him Killer Mike was picked up for a "misdemeanor" that has nothing to do with the Grammys. A source reportedly described the incident as "a big nothing." One report indicated that the incident had to do with an "altercation" involving security at the event.

It seems the Grammys team was not pleased with the development as Harvey Mason, the President of the Recording Academy, was seen trying to talk to Mike's team and the authorities in a bid to de-escalate the situation.

Hours before, Killer Mike snagged three awards for Best Rap Song, Best Rap Performance for "Scientists & Engineers," and Best Rap Album for Michael. He celebrated the big win with a touching speech.

"You cannot tell me you get too old. You cannot tell me it’s too late," he told the elated audience during the Grammys Pre-show. "For all the people out there that think you get too old to rap, bulls--t. I don’t give a d--n if you’re 78 rapping about how many gals you got in the nursing home, make sure we keep hip-hop alive."

The win was quite monumental for Killer Mike who won his last Grammy in 2003 for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group for his collaboration with OutKast — "The Whole World."

For best rap album, Mike beat out Drake and 21 Savage's "Her Loss," Nas' "King's Disease III," Travis Scott’s "Utopia," and Metro Boomin's "Heroes & Villains."
