Margot Robbie has finally addressed her Oscars snub for Best Actress for her role in'Barbie', saying she is still "blessed" to see the movie be nominated in other categories.

As you may know, the ‘Barbie’ actress was not nominated for Best Actress for her role in the hit film, but Ryan Gosling received a nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Ken in the movie, causing an uproar from movie fans everywhere.

Following the backlash the Academy Awards have received, during a panel at a special SAG screening, Margot Robbie finally addressed, what fans are deeming, this year's biggest Oscars snub.

When speaking at the panel, the 'Barbie' actress said, "There’s no way to feel sad when you know you’re this blessed," adding that she is “beyond ecstatic that we’ve got eight Academy Award nominations — it’s so wild."

Margot Robbie is not the only one to get snubbed at this year's Oscars, as Greta Gerwig was also left out of the Best Director nominations. She was, however, nominated for her screenwriter role in ‘Barbie’ for Best Adapted Screenplay.

"Obviously I think Greta should be nominated as a director because what she did is a once-in-a-career, once-in-a-lifetime thing, what she pulled off, it really is. But it’s been an incredible year for all the films," she added, per Deadline.

The movie, which made more than $1 billion at the box office, is "bigger than us" and "bigger than our industry," Robbie said. 'Barbie' has done "way more than we ever dreamed it would, and that is truly the biggest reward that could come out of all of this," the actress continued.

Although Robbie was not nominated for Best Actress, she did receive a Best Picture nomination as a producer on the film.

The Best Actress category in the Oscars is a very competitive category. While Robbie did not receive a nomination, the following actresses did:

  • Annette Bening for ‘Nyad’
  • Lily Gladstone for ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’
  • Sandra Hüller for ‘Anatomy of a Fall’
  • Carey Mulligan for ‘Maestro’
  • Emma Stone for ‘Poor Things’

Just hours after the Oscar nominations were revealed, Ryan Gosling said he was “disappointed that [Robbie and Gerwig] are not nominated in their respective categories."

He noted that while he's “extremely honored to be nominated” for Best Actor, there is, “no Ken without Barbie. And there is no Barbie movie without Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie, the two people most responsible for this history-making, globally celebrated film.”

Gosling was nominated alongside Robert De Niro for ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’, Sterling K. Brown for ‘American Fiction’, Robert Downey Jr. for ‘Oppenheimer’, and Mark Ruffalofor ‘Poor Things.’

The actor added, “No recognition would be possible for anyone on the film without their talent, grit, and genius. To say that I’m disappointed that they are not nominated in their respective categories would be an understatement.”

America Ferrera, who was also nominated for the 2024 Oscars for Best Supporting Actress, also spoke out about the snubs Gerwig received, telling Variety, “Greta has done just about everything that a director could do to deserve it."

She added. "Creating this world, and taking something that didn’t have inherent value to most people and making it a global phenomenon. It feels disappointing to not see her on that list.”

In total, ‘Barbie’ received eight nominations.
