Lionel Richie Reveals Unique Name He Wants Sofia's Unborn Child To Call Him

Lionel Richie has the fun grandpa game on lock and even has a name he wants his granddaughter to call him on standby.

The family is preparing to welcome Sofia Richie and Elliot Grainge's first child together just nine months after they tied the knot in a glamorous ceremony in France.

The "All Night Long" singer expressed his excitement at the expected arrival of his grandbaby as he appeared on the red carpet at the premiere of his new documentary showing on Netflix "The Greatest Night in Pop."

"My baby is having a baby, and I'm so thrilled for Elliot and Sophia. They are just over the moon." said the pop icon to ET.

Lionel Richie has been hands-on throughout his daughter's pregnancy and was spotted standing in their backyard in Sofia and Elliot's viral gender reveal video. In the TikTok clip, Elliot pulled the trigger to release pink powder and confetti into the air.

The proud dad and soon-to-be grandpa also revealed that he had no plans to go by the typical "grandpa" monicker when it came to his grandbaby addressing him. Instead, he chose "pop-pop," which is not as deep as the "grandpa" title.

Just like her dad, Sofia is also thrilled about her pregnancy as she dropped major info in a recent interview. The beauty flaunted her baby bump in an oversized button-shirt paired with panties as she glowed in the black-and-white photo.

She switched to a second look, featuring a long velvet crimson coat showing off her gorgeous belly as she shared details about her pregnancy discovery. The actress explained:

"I was about four weeks pregnant. I was on a trip to Milan for fashion week, and I was going to the Prada show. I was doing a really quick 24-hour turnaround, and I felt terrible but didn't think much of it. I thought it was jet lag."

On her return to LA, she decided to do a pregnancy test right before leaving for an Ed Sheeran concert with her husband to confirm if it was safe enough to consume alcohol.

"Elliot was already used to me taking tests randomly, So he didn't really flinch when I said I was checking. I was taking one of those really crappy at-home tests, and there was the faintest of lines. I was so used to seeing negatives that I knew when something looked even kind of different." explained Sofia.

The actress acknowledged her husband's support as she was about to take the test and how he reassured her in case those negative lines popped up.

"When we turned over all three tests at the same time they were all positive. He was so excited, and we both cried," explained Sofia in describing the night's mood. "It was crazy and overwhelming and so hard not to scream it from the rooftops."

As for the gender reveal, Sofia revealed that they wanted to be surprised, so they had her assistant get the gender from the doctor and fill the party poppers, adding:

"She left out the one with the correct color inside, and Elliot and I popped it together. We both really thought it was a boy, so it was a true shock. My dream in life is to have a daughter [though], and Elliot is really excited for a girl too."

On how the couple shared the baby news with their parents, the actress explained to Vogue that they waited till she hit eight weeks and then headed to Elliot's parent's house which was just five minutes away from theirs. Sofia said:

"I think I had a box—I want to say it was a Hermès box or some sort of box—and I told everyone that I had bought them a gift from Milan Fashion Week."

Elliot added that they put the three pregnancy tests from the concert night in the box. "Watching their reaction go from like, 'I'm about to get an expensive present' to like 'I'm about to get a grandchild' was really sweet." concluded the dad to be on how their parents found out.
