Former Hotel VP Arrested For Slapping Teenage Worker At Disney World
John Munro, 64, of South Carolina, was visiting Cítricos -- a high-class restaurant inside Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.
Deputies with the Orange County Sheriff's Office responded to the resort about a battery on November 19, 2023. When police arrived, they were told Munro was highly intoxicated and was giving the hostess of the restaurant an issue over the reservation and the dress code.
A preliminary investigation showed the hostess of the restaurant was checking in a family who had a reservation for three, however, the group arrived with a fourth individual. One of those Guests was John Munro, who showed up in swim shorts and a T-shirt, which does not meet the dress code requirements for Cítricos.
The Cítricos' website states that "guests are expected to dress accordingly in attire that respects the restaurant's sophisticated and upscale aesthetic," adding specifically that swimwear isn't allowed.
As Munro was wearing "swimming shorts and a T-shirt," the hostess, a 19-year-old teenager, informed the party that he could not be sated with his party. The arrest report, obtained by Fox News, it seemed that Munro understood, but asked if he could wait with his party until their table was ready, to which the hostess granted.
However, that is when the situation escalated.

Despite the hostess informing Munro he could not be seated with his party due to failure of meeting the dress code requirements, he followed them to their table anyway. According to the arrest report, one of the women asked the hostess, "Please don't allow him to sit with us, he is really drunk, underdressed, it's my birthday, and I'm embarrassed."
The hostess then informed Munro, once again, that he could not be seated at the table, which is when he "began to repeatedly slap her forehead" three times as he stated the hostess's name.
Once deputies arrived and approached Munro, they noticed his "slurred speech, glossy red eyes, and constant repeating that he was going to sue Disney," the arrest affidavit stated.
According to the report, the hostess did not sustain any injuries.
Munro was the Vice President of Hospitality, Sales, and Marketing at the prestigious Sea Pines Resort in Hilton Head, but following the incident, Karen Moraghan, the spokesperson for the hotel, told Fox News that Munro is no longer employed by The Sea Pines Resort.
Munro was arrested on battery charges and released on a $1,000 bond the next morning. He entered a plea of not guilty and is due back in court on February 16.
