Shannen Doherty has a lot to be happy for, as she recently revealed that her latest cancer treatment resulted in what she describes as a "miracle."
Doherty has been very open about her battle with cancer and once shared a heartbreaking video of her undergoing a frightening operation on January 2023 to remove a brain tumor.
She has since expressed optimism about her life, noting that her "greatest memory is yet to come."
Shannen Doherty Opens Up About Miracle Result After Cancer Treatment
In the latest episode of her podcast, "Let's Be Clear," Doherty gave her listeners a heartwarming update on her battle with stage four breast cancer.
The "Charmed" star revealed that she encountered a "miracle" result while undergoing her latest treatment, noting that her persistence to keep trying led to a positive outcome.
"I'm not gonna say what it is, I'm on a new cancer infusion, and after four treatments, we didn't really see a difference, and everybody wanted me to switch, and I just kinda was like, 'We're gonna keep going with this and see,'" Doherty shared.
She added, "And yeah, after the sixth or seventh treatment we really saw it breaking down the blood brain barrier. Do I call that a miracle? Yeah. For me, that happens to be a miracle right now. That I sort of rolled the dice and said, 'Let's keep going.'"
Shannen Doherty Links New 'Miracle' To Divine Intervention
Doherty excitedly stated that such a breakthrough has to be linked to divine intervention, adding that "God" wanted to give her a break.
The actress said, "And that it's actually breaking down that blood-brain barrier is actually a miracle of that drug, a miracle of maybe God intervening and saying, 'I'm gonna give her a break.' Sometimes you're looking for miracles in all the wrong places, and they're right in front of your face."
Speaking realistically, Doherty stated that she could "die" anytime but emphasized the importance of looking at things optimistically, adding that there is always "hope."
"Every day is a gift, and there are so many new things in the works that I think hope is always there. I think it's so important," she shared. "Listen, I can die today, I can die in 20 years, I don't know. I can die walking outside of my house and a tree falling on me or a bus hitting me, whatever. Or I can die of cancer. But all I can do is live each day in as much as a positive manner with hope as I can and embrace it and feel like, 'Wow, I get to wake up again today, what can I do?'"
Doherty continued, "I believe that positivity that you bring into your life, I think it helps with your whole body. I think that it helps you fight the cancer. Mind over matter a little bit."
Shannen Doherty Declares That She Is 'Not Done Living'
During an interview last year, the "Beverly Hills 90210" star said that she is "not done living" and plans to "embrace life."
"I'm not done with living. I'm not done with loving. I'm not done with creating. I'm not done with hopefully changing things for the better," Doherty told People magazine.
The actress continued, "When you ask yourself, 'Why me? Why did I get cancer?' and then, 'Why did my cancer come back? Why am I stage 4?' that leads you to look for the bigger purpose in life."
She is optimistic about her chances of beating the deadly disease and hopes to use her voice to raise awareness of cancer while also helping raise funds for research. "It's insane to me [that] we still don't have a cure," she told the publication.
Doherty then talked about her last brain surgery, jokingly naming the tumor that was removed "Bob."
She quipped, "He had to get removed and dissected to see his pathology. It was definitely one of the scariest things I've ever been through in my entire life."
