Pop star Britney Spears once released a song called "Selfish" off her 2011 Femme Fatale album.
Even though the song came out over a decade ago, it started taking over the charts again after her ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake released a new single with the same name.
However, fans were shocked when the "Toxic" singer took to Instagram over the weekend to say she liked his new song and insisted that she never meant to "offend" anyone with the release of her memoir "The Woman In Me" in October 2023.
Britney Spears Says She Is 'In Love With' Justin Timberlake's New Song 'Selfish'
Britney Spears shares message on Instagram and praises Justin Timberlake’s new song:
“I wanna apologize for some of the things I wrote about in my book. If I offended any of the people I genuinely care about I am deeply sorry... I also wanted to say I am in love with Justin… pic.twitter.com/NmPcRd4XUC

Over the weekend, the “Girl In The Mirror” singer took to Instagram to share a clip of Justin Timberlake appearing on Jimmy Fallon’s show.
“I wanna apologize for some of the things I wrote about in my book. If I offended any of the people I genuinely care about I am deeply sorry... I also wanted to say I am in love with Justin Timberlake's new song ‘Selfish,’” she wrote. “It is soo good and how come every time I see Justin and Jimmy together I laugh so hard ???”
She capped off her post by saying that his new song “Sanctified” is “wow too” along with a starry-eyed emoji. Although she disabled comments on her Instagram post, fans on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, were suspicious of Britney’s message.
“She was hacked and paid to say this!” one fan exclaimed. “Her account was compromised and she was coerced into making that statement,” another follower speculated. “Oww, I love seeing that Britney Spears was able to forgive him. It talks a lot about her maturity and I can imagine Justin approached her before, after her book, and they talked about it,” a third fan offered, but at this time, it is unclear if the two have spoken privately following the release of her memoir.

This is not the first time that the "Oops!... I Did It Again" singer has mentioned that she never meant to "offend" anyone with her memoir. A few days before the book's October 2023 release, she took to social media to insist that she had "moved on" from many of the events that she details in her tell-all memoir.
“My book’s purpose was not to offend anyone by any means !!! That was me then …that is in the past !!!” she began. “I don’t like the headlines I am reading …that’s exactly why I quit the business 4 years ago !!! Most of the book is from 20 years ago … I have moved on and it’s a beautiful clean slate from here !!!”
“I am here to establish it that way for the rest of my entire life !!!” she continued. “Either way, that is the last of it and s— happens !! This is actually a book didn’t know needed to be written … although some might be offended, it has given me closure on all things for a better future !!!”
“Hopefully I can enlighten people who feel particularly alone in most cases or hurt or misunderstood !!! Again, my motive for this book was not to harp on my past experiences which is what the press is doing and it’s dumb and silly !!!” she concluded. “I have moved on since then !! #TheWomaninMe.”
Britney Has No Plans To Make More Music
Even though fans of the Princess of Pop would love to hear more music from the "Slumber Party" singer, it seems that she may be done making music for good. In an Instagram post published earlier this month, Britney shot down reports that she was working on a new album with Charli XCX.
“Just so we’re clear most of the news is trash !!! They keep saying I’m turning to random people to do a new album … I will never return to the music industry !!!” she wrote on Instagram earlier this month. “When I write, I write for fun or I write for other people !!! For those of you who have read my book, there’s loads that you don’t know about me … I’ve written over 20 songs for other people the past two years !!!”
“I’m a ghostwriter and I honestly enjoy it that way !!! People are also saying MY BOOK WAS RELEASED WITHOUT MY APPROVAL ILLEGALLY and that’s far from the truth … have you read the news these days ???" she asked, concluding her post by writing, "I’m so LOVED and blessed !!!”
