However, the real twist to the story came from none other than Parton's husband, who had reservations about the iconic outfit that took the internet by storm.

The 78-year-old superstar revealed Dean's amusing reaction in an interview, recalling how he questioned the shorts' length. Parton chuckled as she shared the amusing moment, "He did say something like, 'What? Is it, a little short, don't you think?"

However, she was not one to back down, responding with a witty retort, "No! It's not as short as theirs," cheekily referring to the renowned dance squad's uniforms.

The actress confessed in her interview with Page Six that her initial intention was for people to find it funny, adding, "I thought, if I could pull this off, that'd be a cool little thing to do."

Despite acknowledging the potential for criticism, she humorously shared, "I thought most people would excuse me if it didn't turn out. I thought, they're just like us, some older woman making a bad mistake. Or I thought, well, maybe it'll just be something cool to do."

Parton's fearless fashion statement did not stop at the halftime show; she even wore the outfit on the private jet ride back home, surrounded by her crew. However, her costume designer had the foresight to provide her with a robe, saving the star from potential in-flight banter.

The "Jolene" singer explained, "I put it on because I cannot fly all the way home with a bunch of men, you know, sitting here in this little…(outfit). They'll aggravate me to death, you know, if nothing else, just making jokes or comments."

While Dean's reaction may have been reserved, fans were undoubtedly in awe of the unexpected fashion moment. Following the live performance, which took place during the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Kickoff Halftime Show during the Dallas Cowboys Thanksgiving Day game, admirers flooded social media with praises.

Sports analyst Skip Bayless took the lead, exclaiming, "How 'bout that Dolly Parton. Talk about dressing for the occasion. Now that is impressive." Another focused on her vocal prowess, stating, "Her voice is still so good. Dolly Parton FOREVER. No one can convince me she's not a Queen because this woman is a Queen & Goddess & everything good."

A third fan, injecting humor, quipped, "Our apologies, but this is no longer a football game; it's a Dolly Parton concert." This fan, who was more in awe of her fitness, noted,

"Dolly Parton is amazing—she and Cher have taken such good care of themselves. It's almost impossible to compare the shape that Dolly is to the shape Donald Trump is in—I say that because of the age. Aren't they both 77?"

The 11-time Grammy Awards winner confessed to developing crushes outside her marriage, clarifying that they were more about harmless flirting than physical intimacy.

"I've had crushes on some very unusual men, but Carl knows I'll always come home, and I'm not having s-x with these people — I'm just flirting and having fun," she explained.

Contrary to misconceptions, their open relationship did not extend to physical involvement with others.  The "Coat of Many Colors" singer emphasized the boundaries, stating, "Yes, it's an open relationship, but not s-----, and I would kill him if I thought he was doing that.' He would shoot me too. At the end of the day, we love each other madly."
