As Travis Kelce becomes one of the biggest athletes, Patrick Mahomes says he is just being himself through it all.

Travis has always been Travis,” Mahomes told NBC Sports. “It’s been cool to watch for me because he has all that attention, but he’s just been himself the whole time. He’s still Travis Kelce. He still will walk through the stadium and treat every single person like they’re his best friend. And he’s going to be like that in the locker room every single day. It hasn’t been any different.”

He then jokingly added, "I was like, ‘Trav, I’m not the same age as you, I don’t even know who that is.’”

Both on and off the field, Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes are extremely close. Mahomes and Kelce have connected for more yards (5,598) and touchdowns (40) as of November 2023 -- which is more than any quarterback-receiver duo in the NFL since 2019.

The two also set a post-season record for most touchdowns for a duo in NFL history with 16, passing now-retired Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski.

Their off-field friendship resonates with their on-field chemistry, as Mahomes has described Kelce as a "brother" in the past.

The NFL quarterback went on to explain how Kelce is day-to-day, claiming, "he just wants to be the guy that comes to play football every single day, and I think that's what makes him so special and why guys really gravitate towards him."

Of course, both Mahomes and Kelce "both love winning and love competing," which is what helps them have the "same wavelength on the football field as we're going to compete to the very end."

Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and the Kansas City Chiefs are still in the NFL playoffs as they get ready to take on the Baltimore Ravens this weekend. If they beat Lamar Jackson and the Ravens, they will make it into the Super Bowl.
