The guy who says he put together the Allen Iverson documentary claims Iverson’s agent crossed him up when it came to several deals involving the film and now he’s suing for the money he claims he is owed.
Mark Brown — who wrote and directed “Two Can Play That Game” and wrote the original “Barbershop” film — says he made a deal back in 2005 to produce a documentary about the NBA legend.
According to a lawsuit obtained by The Blast, Brown says his deal with Iverson’s agent, Gary D. Moore, called for Brown to pay $50,000 upfront to Moore for the right to make the film. He says the agreement also called for Moore and Brown to split any profits from the film equally, after Brown was reimbursed for his costs (which he says totaled around $200,000).
Brown says he was forced to finish production on the film earlier than planned, but his completed footage was later turned into “Iverson,” which eventually aired on Showtime.
But in 2017, Brown claims he discovered that Moore made other deals to license the film and it eventually ended up on Netflix, Amazon, Google Play and Apple iTunes.
Brown claims he hasn’t received a dime from those deals and wants Moore to fork over his cut.
We reached out to Moore for comment — so far, no word back.
