Tekashi 6ix9ine's troubles with the law continue in 2024 as the rapper is detained at a jail in the capital of Santo Domingo.
The "GOOBA" artist's latest run-in with the law is over domestic violence charges, an incident that happened in the Dominican Republic. Authorities arrested him on Wednesday, January 17, with a hearing scheduled for the following day to decide his fate.
Inside Tekashi 6ix9ine's Domestic Violence Charges & Issues With The Law
Dominican officials revealed the rapper, whose real name is Daniel Hernández, was arrested on domestic violence charges. However, they did not elaborate on the incident but noted the entertainer was scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, January 18.
At the hearing, a judge would decide if 6ix9ine would remain behind bars or be released on bond as the domestic violence investigation continues. His latest legal troubles come three months after he was accused of assaulting a local music producer last October.
The rapper was also accused of using a violent gang as a "personal hit squad;" however, he escaped prison after testifying against the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods, which operate in the U.S. East Coast, per the Associated Press. In August 2023, he was arrested in Florida for driving over the speed limit and having traffic ticket issues.
According to court documents, 6ix9ine was "going 135 mph in a 65mph zone on the Florida turnpike before he was given a ticket for speeding." Citations for an unregistered vehicle and failure to have car insurance were also issued.
As stated, the hip-hop star's arrest was connected to several traffic tickets he allegedly failed to pay in June. A judge had issued a warrant for his arrest when he didn't attend court dates to address the ticket issue.
Following his arrest, 6ix9ine was taken to the Palm Beach County Jail before being released on bail for $2,000. Before this run-in with the law, he was embroiled in a legal dispute with a tattoo artist over alleged "heroin-related statements."
Tekashi 6ix9ine Sustained Injuries In Surprise Attack At The Gym
Last year, 6ix9ine made multiple headlines for his legal troubles; however, one incident landed him in the hospital. A group of men brutally attacked him in March while he was alone in the sauna of a South Florida LA Fitness.
The "Get The Strap" hitmaker's lawyer, Lance Lazzaro, shared the unfortunate news in a statement. According to the legal practitioner, his client did nothing to warrant the surprise attack from the men. Nonetheless, the group threw enough punches to send 6ix9ine to the hospital.
Although the entertainer tried fighting back, the odds were against him, and he barely defended himself against the group. The beatdown ended after gym staff heard the commotion and alerted the authorities and emergency services.
Pictures from the hospital captured 6ix9ine with a swollen face and a gash near his cheek, while other sources noted he suffered more injuries to his ribs, jaw, and back. Videos from the violent incident also made waves on social media, showing two men punching and kicking the artist as he lay on the gym's bathroom floor.

In another clip, the 27-year-old had blood streaming down his face as he left the bathroom and walked into the gym's central area.
It was unclear whether the incident was related to his past legal problems; however, it came days after he physically confronted an attendee at the World Baseball Classic quarterfinals at LoanDepot Park, Miami.
The Young Rapper Weighed In On Kanye West's Anti-Semitic Remarks
The speculations about why 6ix9ine got beaten up at a gym took over the internet, with some wondering if it had anything to do with his opinions on Kanye "Ye" West's anti-Semitic remarks.
The rapper had appeared on Andrew Tate's "Tate Speech" podcast in 2023, where he described West as a "wolf" who was "standing on business." He raved about his love for the older artist, stressing that he loved all he represented and admired how he did "what the f— he wants."
"When there's billionaires, trillionaires, millionaires in your ear, and they're saying, 'Kanye, this is not the respectable thing,'" 6ix9ine said, claiming Ye had done so much hard work to avoid "bowing down to a dollar."
Fans may recall West became infamous after sharing his dislike for Jewish people during interviews and on social media. Things escalated, he tweeted: "I'm a bit sleepy tonight, but when I wake up, I'm going death con 3 On JEWISH PEOPLE."
His antisemitic actions sparked numerous consequences from famous brands like Adidas, cutting their business ties to the "Jesus Walks" rapper and many calling for him to get canceled.
