Cordell Patrick, a former ESPN Sports broadcaster, is lucky to be alive after he was thrown from a moving RV and landed on a California freeway.
Now, a new video shared by NBC shows the moment Patrick was thrown from the RV and was launched into the concrete center divider.
The former broadcaster has been traveling in his RV as on January 14, Patrick shared a photo of his view from the RV.

Everyone knows Dolphins can't swim in 30-below temperatures. Chiefs gone whip Miami's a--. Go Kansas City. And yes that's #V outside the RV."

Cordell Patrick spoke from his hospital bed Tuesday, describing the horrifying accident. "We were 10 minutes from home," Patrick said of his recent travels. "I stood up to use the restroom, and at that moment my wife dozed off."
He said he ran to the front of the RV to take control of the wheel, but it was too late as the moving vehicle slammed into the concrete median, tossing Patrick out the window.
New footage shared by NBC shows the moment the crash occurred, but warning -- the video is hard to watch.
After realizing he was thrown onto the freeway, he said, "I knew I need to get up, or I was going to die. I looked at my right ankle, and it was pointed backwards. So, there was going to be no walking. I just started scooting myself to the median."
When speaking to the media, he was seen lying down in his hospital bed, with his head bandaged up.

One driver, Alf Smithey, who witnessed the horrific crash, said he stopped to help once he saw "dust, smoke," adding that "the driver [slid] along the center divider for 600 feet or so."
He immediately went over to Patrick's wife, who was in the RV approximately 300 feet from where Patrick was lying, to help.
"'She kept saying, 'My husband is not here. My husband is not here,'" the eyewitness said. "Then she kept looking out the window behind her."

Smithy said that is when he ran back along the center divider, which is when he found the former ESPN broadcaster lying against the median, severely injured.
Although Patrick was in bad shape, "His biggest concern was, 'How was my wife?'" the eyewitness said. "I was like, 'You’re the one who flew out of the vehicle.' He was more concerned about her."
Miraculously, Patrick's wife and their dog, who were both inside the RV at the time of the crash, were not injured. Patrick is currently in the hospital and is scheduled for more surgery later this week.
