According to reports, the reality television star is now facing a felony, meaning the 35-year-old is facing one count of misdemeanor child abuse and one count of felony assault by strangulation. If found guilty, this could result in a long jail term for Evans' husband.

Recall that the controversial couple got the attention of the law when Jace escaped from their home for the third time in September. The teenager allegedly snuck out the window and ran into the woods. Unfortunately, when he was found, authorities discovered "visible marks" on his neck and arm.

In a police report filed following the incident, it was revealed that the 14-year-old complained to his grandmother, Barbara Evans — who now has temporary custody of him — that he was enduring physical abuse at the hands of his stepfather.

"She [Barbara] advised that she had spoken to [Jace] earlier in the evening when he called from an unknown number and told her about being assaulted by David Eason and that he ran away and was hiding," the report read.

Another report claimed there was a video recording of the assault, making things worse for Eason. Despite the alarming charges against Eason, Evans has remained a devoted wife, vowing that her husband posed no harm to her son. The "16 and Pregnant" star has described the saga as a ploy of the police department to incriminate her husband because they don't want to do a thorough investigation.

"You would think the Police wouldn't make a one-sided police investigation," she lamented. "They didn't conduct interviews, didn't ask any information from the parents. This seems like a very bias situation like every time before."

The reality star continued, "I trusted that detective with all my heart. Forgot you can’t trust cops silly me. I do not trust anyone around me. Going MIA for a while ✌️."

In a follow-up post, the reality star slammed North Carolina’s Columbus County Police specifically, writing, "Columbus County Sheriff’s Department I believe is the one doing the smearing campaign against my husband and needs to be held responsible."

Evans alleged that the cops revealed details of the case to the media, not minding that a minor was involved. "Gave no f—s. Have the emails to prove it," she claimed. "An open investigation is supposed to be kept private under all circumstances especially when it involves kids."

The MTV alum vowed to defend her husband, writing, "Let’s go to court. I’ve been waiting on our day. I feel so violated by the system. Wait until the day you hear the truth…you will be begging me not to sue."

According to insiders, the teenager was caught vaping at his school and his grandmother seized his phone upon learning about his atrocity. Sources Jenelle, CPS, and the foster care team were against giving Jace a phone in the first place, but Barbara believed he could handle the responsibility.

After Barbara took away Jace’s phone as a form of punishment, he reportedly ran away, leading to a search for the teenager. As a result of his recurrent runaway incidents, CPS plans to relocate him to foster care.
