Bernice King, daughter of Martin Luther King and Coretta Scott King, doesn't want her mother to be remembered as the late civil rights activist "prop."

She recently made a post where she urged people to understand that her mother was a "peace advocate" even prior to her meeting and getting married to Martin.

It coincidentally comes shortly after the embattled actor Jonathan Majors mentioned her mother's name during his first interview since being found guilty of assault and harassment.

Shortly after former Marvel actor Jonathan Majors name-dropped Coretta Scott King in an interview, Bernice, In a post on X, paid tribute to her mother, a talented singer and activist and one of the many civil rights movement leaders in the 1960s.

Bernice aimed to dispel the idea that her mother played a secondary role to her husband, Martin Luther King. She emphasized that Corretta was not merely a supporter but actively contributed to the civil rights revolution, even before meeting Martin on a blind date in January 1952.

The 60-year-old wrote, "My mother wasn't a prop. She was a peace advocate before she met my father and was instrumental in him speaking out against the Vietnam War."

Bernice then doubled down on her stance by urging others to reject misconceptions about her mother.

Although Bernice did not state whether she was addressing a single person or a group of people with her tweet, it does come after Majors made a comparison between Coretta Scott King and his girlfriend, Meagan Good.

Majors made the comparison during an interview with ABC News Live's Linsey Davis after he was convicted of misdemeanor assault and harassment over a domestic dispute with then-girlfriend Grace Jabbari.

"She's an angel," the 34-year-old said of Good, who was by his side for several of his court appearances.

"She's held me down like a Coretta [Scott King]. I'm so blessed to have her," he said. "The relationship is still fresh, but you know, I think I found her."

Another person commented, "Bernice it's not a crime for someone to look up to the relationships your parents have. He has been speaking positively on them before all of this!"

Some other users were of the opinion that Bernice's post might not be directed solely at Majors or perhaps not at him alone.

A user noted, "It's not clear that this is just for one person even though everyone is interpreting it that way. Over the last few days, THOUSANDS of people have used her name to write think-piece posts on here."

Meanwhile, Majors made several revelations during his interview with ABC, his first since the guilty verdict.

He told his interviewer that he was "shocked" and afraid by the decision of the jury, which he now plans to appeal.

"I'm standing there, and the verdict comes down. I say, 'How is that possible based off the evidence, based off the prosecution's evidence, let alone our evidence? How is that possible?'" Majors remarked at the time, per The Guardian.

The actor also revealed that he had no idea how his ex-Jabbari got the wound on her body after their altercation.

"I wish to God I knew. That would give me clarity, that would give me some type of peace about it," the former Marvel star said, adding that he had never hit her all through their two-plus-year relationship.
