During a speech in South Carolina on Monday, President Joe Biden addressed the former President's comments on the horrific tragedy that occurred last week, stating;

"Just a few days ago, the defeated former president was asked about the recent shooting in Iowa. Did you hear this one? It is hard to believe. You know what his response was? ''We have to get over it,' end of quote. I promise you, 'We have to get over it.'

My response is: We have to stop it."

The President of the United States went on to say that citizens should be able to leave their homes without fear and that the country needs to "ban assault weapons."

"There is no excuse for this carnage. We have to ban assault weapons. I did it once before, and I'm going come back again and do it," Biden said during his speech.

This is not the first time Joe Biden addressed gun reform in America as last month, the President of the United States delivered a message to the students at the University of Nevada Las Vegas after the tragic shootings took place.

“This is not normal, and we can never let it become normal,” the President said to the students at the time. “I’m grateful to the law enforcement officers who risked their lives. We join people across the country praying for the families of those killed, whose hearts have been broken by yet another horrific gun violence.”

As you may know, Anthony Polito, a 67-year-old college professor, was named as the suspect in the University of Nevada Las Vegas shooting just shortly after the tragedy occurred in December. Three people were killed on-site during the attack on the University of Nevada, Las Vegas campus. Polito also died on the scene following the shooting.

“Folks, we got to get smart. There have been over 600 mass shootings in America this year alone, plus daily acts of gun violence that don’t even make the national news. This is not normal, and we can never let it become normal,” Biden said, adding, “People have the right to feel safe — be safe.”
