'The Hunger Games'co-stars Josh Hutchersonand Jennifer Lawrence remain friends years after the popular film series came to an end in 2015.
The two have since moved on to other roles, most recently Lawrence in the 2023 romantic-comedy 'No Hard Feelings' and Hutcherson in the 2023 video-game adaption film 'Five Nights At Freddy's.'
Both films did exceptionally well at the box office, and Lawrence celebrated the win by texting her former co-star a sweet and supportive message.
'Five Nights at Freddy's' was a huge success, even having the second-biggest opening weekend of all time for a video-game adaptation, per Variety. It came in behind 'The Super Mario Bros. Movie,' which starred Chris Evans as Mario and Jack Black as Bowser.
Lawrence's 'No Hard Feelings' was also a box office success, grossing over $87 million worldwide against a $45 million budget. It also became a number-one movie on Netflix.
Following both films' achievements, Jennifer Lawrence texted her former co-star Josh Hutcherson to congratulate him.
“Jen texted me when 'Freddy’s' came out,” Hutcherson admitted. “She was like, ‘My movie’s No. 1 on Netflix, and yours is No. 1 at the box office! Let’s go!’ "
Hutcherson then responded with a sweet, "I love you!"
Lawrence and Hutcherson first met when they starred as Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, respectively, in the 'Hunger Games' film series.
'Five Nights At Freddy's 2' Is In The Works
Following the huge success of 'Five Nights at Freddy's', a sequel is in the works, according to Josh Hutcherson.
“I know they’re in the process right now of nailing down the story, and they want to get going as soon as possible,” Hutcherson told Variety of a 'Freddy's' sequel. “Obviously, the fans are amazing and die-hard. For me to be a part of it was so cool and phenomenal."
He went on to say, “We hoped it would connect with audiences, but I don’t think that anybody, even on our side of things, expected it to really connect the way that it did. I’m dying to get back on set. Emma Tammi, our director, was fantastic, and it was such a fun world to play in. I’m excited to see what they are doing next.”
At this time, there is no set script for a 'Freddy's' sequel, but in the meantime, fans of Josh Hutcherson can check out 'The Beekeeper', which hits theaters Friday, January 12.
Matthew Lillard On 'Five Nights at Freddy's' Success
Matthew Lillard, who also starred in 'Five Nights at Freddy's' recently opened up about what it was like to watch the film in the movie theaters on opening weekend, which he says was "not well thought out."
"Look, nobody really cares that you’re an actor unless you’re in a big hit movie and in the theater to see your movie," he told Entertainment Weekly. "I went late Sunday on opening weekend [with] my kids. They haven’t seen me in a movie in a movie theater in a very, very long time, unless it’s a retrospective or a festival or whatever. We got there early to get seats, and so I was standing out like a sore thumb. But it was very sweet."
He added, "The audience responded in an incredible way, there was a big applause at the end, and as they walked out everyone was saying congratulations. It was very sweet, and my kids were perfectly mortified, which is exactly what you want."
