The Kansas City Chiefs have announced that tight end Travis Kelcewill not be playing in the Week 18 game against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Travis Kelce currently holds the NFL record for most consecutive and most overall seasons with 1,000 yards receiving by a tight end with a total of seven. For the 2023 season, he has been averaging 65.6 yards per game.

The Kansas City Chiefs, who currently have a 10-6 record, have clinched a playoff berth, but they still have one more game to play in the regular NFL season.

However, Travis Kelce has been ruled out for Sunday's game, despite not being hurt and having no known injuries, leaving fans to wonder why he is not playing on Sunday, January 7.

Travis Kelce has been ruled out for Week 18 against the Los Angeles Chargers as a healthy scratch.

Kelce is not the only one missing the Week 18 game, as Patrick Mahomes has also been benched. This is a smart move on head coach Andy Reid. The team clinched a playoff berth, so it looks like he decided not to risk two players in a game that would not alter the stats. If he starts Mahomes and Kelce, and one of them gets injured during the game, that means it could hurt their playoff run, so it looks like he felt it was better to play it safe than sorry.

It is unclear if Kelce's girlfriend, pop icon Taylor Swift will still attend the Week 18 game in Los Angeles; however, she was spotted having a quiet dinner with Mahomes's wife, Brittany, last night, so it is a possibility that the 'Bad Blood' singer still make an appearance at the NFL game.

Taylor and Brittany have grown close over the past few months. The two have been spotted attending Chiefs games together to cheer on their significant others, sipping champagne during a party, and having a double date at the Mahomes's house with Travis and Patrick.

Now that the two have been dating for a few months, they are reportedly having ‘deep conversations’ about their future. The “Love Story” singer even recently moved into Travis Kelce’s new $6M Kansas City mansion to spend the next few weeks alongside the NFL star before she heads back out on the international leg of her wildly successful Eras Tour.

A source recently spoke to US Weekly on how serious the two are taking their relationship seriously, claiming that “When they can’t physically be together, they are constantly texting, calling, and FaceTiming."
