The shocking move came at the start of the year and can be presumed to be a social media clean-up, but the two-time Emmy Award winner hasn't been so active on social media since October. In fact, she only broke her social media hiatus on January 2 with a promotion poster for her upcoming movie, "Challengers."

"Challengers April 26th. Wishing you all the most beautiful new year," she captioned the update. While the "Euphoria" actress has yet to give an explanation for her move, it is worth noting that Holland still follows his girlfriend of two years, giving fans a sliver of hope.

Zendaya's move has, however, caused a stir on social media with many reacting. One fan penned, "saw that Zendaya unfollowed Tom Holland pls tell me romance isn't dead y'all," while another remarked, "The biggest news right now is that zendaya unfollowed everybody. The look of a boss ? or yell just double cross her and now it is time to shine this bigger than I thought."

Another comment read, "y'all still panicking over zendaya unfollowing everyone I'm thinking about how good Mother looks in the new challengers poster like."

The breakup rumors come months after the lovebirds sparked engagement speculations. In September, the 27-year-old had to address rumors that she and Holland were taking their relationship to the next level after she was seen rocking a massive pearl ring.

She left the internet reeling with excitement after dropping a stunning picture of herself on social media. However, several eagle-eyed fans noticed Zendaya accessorized with a beautiful ring that many mistook for a relationship update. In no time, the internet blew up with questions about the veracity of the news.

Luckily, things didn't spiral out of control before Zendaya broke her silence and denied the news. Barely holding back her laughter, the "Shake It Up" star declared, "I can't post anything, you guys! I posted it for my hat. Like not for the ring on my right finger, you guys."

She continued, "Seriously, you think that's how I would drop the deuce? You think? Like What?” while laughing with a male companion in the background. After clearing up the misunderstanding, the award-winning actress dropped the complete picture with the pearl ring.

Why Zendaya & Tom Holland Keep Their Romance Under Wraps

Despite being linked for the longest time, details of Zendaya and Holland's romance remain largely unknown and it is very intentional for the couple. During an interview with ELLE Magazine, the former child star explained why her relationship with her "Spiderman" co-star is very lowkey.

She explained that her choice to keep her relationship private is rooted in a desire to protect the genuine bond she shares with Holland. In her words, "Parts of my life, I accept, are going to be public. I can't not be a person and live my life and love the person I love. But also, I do have control over what I choose to share."

The Oakland native noted that it was about safeguarding their serenity and "letting things be your own but also not being afraid to exist." She added, "You can't hide. That's not fun, either. I am navigating it more than ever now."

Holland shared a similar sentiment in a separate interview, saying, "Our relationship is something that we are incredibly protective of, and we want to keep as sacred as possible. We don't think that we owe it to anyone, it’s our thing, and it has nothing to do with our careers."

Despite their preferred privacy, neither Zendaya nor Holland shy away from doting on each other in public. During an appearance on the "Smartless" podcast, the "Uncharted" star declared:

"I'm lucky that I have someone like Zendaya in my life. It's interesting being in a romantic relationship with someone that is in the same boat as you. You can share your experiences and all that sort of stuff and that’s worth its weight in gold."
