On Wednesday, multiple court records naming friends and associates of infamous sex offender and financier Jeffrey Epstein were made available to the public.
The names of famous illusionist David Copperfield, late singer Michael Jackson, and former president Bill Clinton have been revealed, according to court documents obtained by The Blast.
This controversial list of Epstein's associates was released nine years after Virginia Giuffre filed a defamation case against his co-conspirator, Ghislaine Maxwell. This led to the naming of various individuals in the depositions that now make up the "list."
David Copperfield Was Allegedly At Jeffrey Epstein's Palm Beach Mansion
As we reported, the documents didn't include an outright "list" -- but did include several high-profile names that were mentioned. Plus, it included a list of people who Maxwell said might have information.
Popular illusionist Copperfield is among the big names that have been confirmed to be in the filings. A deposition made by Johanna Sjoberg, whom Maxwell allegedly hired to have sex acts performed on Epstein, was included in one of the documents obtained by The Blast.
Sjoberg claimed that Copperfirled was present at dinner at Epstein's home, where he allegedly "did some magic tricks."
"Did you observe David Copperfield to be a friend of Jeffrey Epstein's?" Sjoberg was asked, to which she responded in the affirmative.
Sjoberg was also asked if Copperfield "ever discussed Jeffrey's involvement with young girls with" her. "He questioned me if I was aware that girls were getting paid to find other girls," she replied.
She added in the deposition that Copperfield withheld certain details from her regarding that question. Sjoberg was also asked, "Did he say whether they were teenagers or 20, anything along those lines?" and she responded that the illusionist didn't.
Michael Jackson Was Also Named In The Epstein 'List'
Famous singer and King of Pop, Michael Jackson was among the names revealed by Sjoberg in her deposition. She claimed that she encountered Jackson in Epstein's Palm Beach home.
"Did you ever meet anybody famous when you were with Jeffrey?" she was asked. "I met Michael Jackson … at [Epstein's] house in Palm Beach," Sjoberg responded.
She was then asked if she ever "massaged" Jackson, and she replied that she replied, "I did not."
The late singer's name popping up on Epstein's list raises eyebrows, as numerous child sexual abuse allegations have since marred his legacy.
David Copperfield Was Previously Embroiled In A Sexual Assault Scandal
In 2018, the popular magician was embroiled in a shocking scandal after being accused by a woman, identified as Brittney Lewis, of sexual assault during her teen years.
Lewis claimed in 1988 when she was just 17 years old, Copperfield drugged and sexually assaulted her after serving as a judge in a modeling contest she was competing in.
According tor reports, Lewis stated that she had met Copperfield shortly after traveling to Atami, Japan, the location of Elite Model Management's September 1988 "Look of the Year" modeling competition.
Lewis claimed that shortly after winning the "Look of the Year" competition, Copperfield asked her to attend one of his forthcoming performances in California when she returned to Utah. Due to the fact that Lewis was still a minor at the time, Copperfield allegedly asked for permission for her to come to see him from her grandmother, Patricia Burton.
Per the news outlet, Lewis claimed that she joined Copperfield in California, where he introduced her to his team. After showing her around, the pair checked into a hotel. At the hotel, there was a bar where Lewis alleged that Copperfield invited her to.
Lewis stated that she had hardly touched her drink when she saw him adding something to it, per The Wrap. She then asked him what he was doing, and he replied that he was just sharing. After taking a few sips of the drink, Lewsi said that she blacked out and could barely remember what happened that night.
She then proceeded to recount being sexually assaulted by the magician, claiming she could feel him kissing her, amongst other inappropriate things. When she woke up in the morning, Copperfield allegedly suggested that she go back home to her grandmother.
Copperfield has subtly denied Lewis' allegations, claiming that he has been a victim of false allegations for years and will "weather the storm."
"Three years and hundreds of stories reported on a false claim investigated by the FBI, where the end result was that the accuser was caught by law enforcement making the same false claim about another man," he said at the time in a statement shared on his Instagram page.
