An emotional TikTok video is shedding some light on the financial issues that many people are currently dealing with.
TikTok creator Jourdan Skirha's viral video shares the frustrating reality that many are living with - working multiple jobs and still living paycheck to paycheck. And thousands of people chimed in on her emotional meltdown.
An Emotional TikTok Video Shares Relatable Financial Frustrations
"Does anyone else feel like they're absolutely f------ drowning financially?" she began her TikTok video that's now received more than 3 million views in a few days. "As a single 29-year-old woman, I just, I have three jobs and I'm still f------ struggling."
She continued to say that she's finding herself deeper in credit card debt because she doesn't have enough after the first of the month.
"It just isn't working. Full-time job, not doing it. Got a second job. It's barely doing it," she continued. "The third job [is] hit or miss if I ever get paid on time. I feel like I'm drowning, and I don't know, I don't know what to do."
She then explained how when she was a server, she had "all this cash every night" when she would work. She then said she was not sure if the servers were doing okay at this point.
"I am seriously considering quitting my full-time good job to go back to serving," she said. "Because at least I can have, I can just use my personality and try to get more money than minimum wage or what an entry-level job pays people nowadays."
The Viral Video Got More Than 20,000 Comments!
Many viewers could totally relate to Jourdan's financial struggles and shared their own stories in the comment section.
"32, living on my own, make 6 figures and I’m still living paycheck to paycheck. Balance transfers save me on credit card debt," one person wrote. Another added, "I feel you. I’m 32, work in finance making decent money. No kids. No luxury apartment and I live paycheck to paycheck. You’re not alone. Stay strong."
Others could relate and tried to make light of the situation with some humor.
"Who else has been personally victimized by 2023 🙋♀️🙋♀️," one person wrote. "Lol, I’m there at 33... I’m about to sue my parents for bringing me here," shared another.
One person pointed out that many millennials don't want to have kids and others shared that side of the financial frustration.
"Just imagine the women with kids. 🥺 Who have to hide behind closed doors and cry bc they want to provide way more for their kids," one person wrote. "I definitely feel this too girl! I am 32-year-old single woman and am struggling. Idk how people with kids do it right now."
A Follow-Up Video Addresses Spending Money On "Luxury" Things
A follow-up video addresses comments that were made in the previous video about spending money on "luxury" items.
"I can't believe someone said that getting a haircut is a luxury thing," she said. "And you know what? The one thing I'll never give up personally is getting my nails done because I have been doing that my entire life after college and I was able to pay for it and it doesn't really matter cause it makes me happy."
She continued to explain that she's not willing to give up Botox and fillers a few times a year, or vacationing.
"The bigger issue here is the fact that a full-time job on its own is not even paying your bills," she continued. "So do you wanna talk about that? Cause we can."
Many agreed with Jourdan's thoughts on not wanting to give up "luxuries" that make you happy.
"My only question is without small luxuries what’s left to live for? Are we supposed to work till we die?" one person wrote. Another added, "Never Give Up The Things You Love! You’ll Literally Be Depressed Giving All Your Money To Bills And Nothing Else!"
Others took the other side of the argument.
"I hear you but add up all the luxury things, or all the trips on that credit card…it’s thousands girl," one person wrote. Another said, "A haircut and nails ARE in fact a luxury thing. I grew up poor and I never had a haircut. My mom used to cut my hair."
