Meghan Markle 'Fears' Former Best Friend Will Expose Damaging 'Secrets'

The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, is reportedly worried about a potential betrayal from her former best friend, Jessica Mulroney.

It comes after claims that the fashion stylist had been targeting the royal in several cryptic messages on social media.

The duo were said to have had a rift in their relationship in the wake of Mulroney being involved in a "white privilege" scandal amid the Black Lives Movement in 2020.

Over the last few months, Mulroney has made some "cryptic" posts that have got people believing that they were targeted at Meghan.

Back in September, she talked about having a "strong detachment game," seemingly referencing her alleged fallout with the former "Suits" actress. She followed up the statement with a repost on Instagram Story this month, which seemed to hint at the reason for their falling out.

"Anybody who believes lies about you, before even hearing your side of the story, was already looking for a way to be against you," the clip said.

With more such non-subtle messages expected to come in the future, sources have claimed that Meghan is worried that her ex-bestie is gearing up to betray her publicly.

"Meghan thought the ultimate betrayal was how Harry's family has treated them, but if Jessica turned on her, that would really hurt," said an insider, per Life & Style Magazine. "The last thing Meghan and Harry want is another attack on their name, and Jessica could do just that if she expands on her telling posts."

According to the publication, Meghan believes that Mulroney knows more about her than anyone else. This includes her being privy to many secrets in the Duchess's life, many of which the mother of two would prefer to keep private from the public eye.

A source said, "Meghan has secrets she doesn't want to be revealed, and if anyone can cause her damage by sharing those, by writing a book, posting on social media, giving a tell-all interview or otherwise, it's Jessica."

As to when the duo drifted apart, sources previously confirmed that it was amid the "white privilege" scandal involving Mulroney back in 2020.

At the time, Canadian lifestyle blogger Sasha Exeter had called out Mulroney for taking offense and threatening her for urging other bloggers and social media to speak up about the Black Lives Matter Movement movement.

Mulroney later issued an apology for her actions, acknowledging that taking it personally was a mistake and expressing a commitment to improving her behavior.

For a significant part of the year, Meghan and, by extension, her husband, Prince Harry, have been on the defensive against various attacks targeting their personalities.

The couple were mocked during an episode of "The Worldwide Privacy Tour" for appearing to seek the spotlight while publicly expressing dissatisfaction with media intrusion into their lives.

They also faced further skewering in the form of a "Family Guy" episode that satirized their $100 million Netflix deal.

Per reports, the incident was the straw that broke the camel's back, as it made the couple feel like "they're not being taken seriously enough by people."

"Meghan said she won't be humiliated like this and is desperate for a solution. They're in full panic mode," an insider said at the time (per NYP).

The source continued, "What's hit them hardest and cuts the deepest of all is that it plays up the whole notion they're self-entitled grifters or spoilt brats."

With the year coming to an end soon, Harry and Meghan are anticipating a year of "redemption" in 2024. The couple are also contemplating a move from their serene Montecito residence in Santa Barbara County to Los Angeles as a fresh start for the upcoming year.

Per the Daily Mail, their decision to relocate is influenced by the belief that being nearer Hollywood would help take advantage of their popularity. Additionally, they are prioritizing quality over quantity in their work choices, with Meghan reportedly declining numerous offers and Harry being described as "extremely high demand."

A source said, "They've actually been shocked by how popular she [Meghan] is. Her team has never seen anything like it. There's this perception that Harry and Meghan have been snubbed in the entertainment industry. But the way they see it, they're choosing quality over quantity instead of grabbing every opportunity that comes their way."
