On Christmas Eve, Barrera took to her Instagram Story to condemn the celebration of Christmas. She posted a thought-provoking photo of Santa Claus delivering gifts on one side of the road while a donkey was carrying what looked like wrapped dead bodies on the opposite end.

"I hope this Christmas feels...weird," she began. "I hope you can't ignore the fact that you're celebrating the birth of a child who was persecuted and targeted and his parents forced to flee to Egypt."

Comparing the chaotic birth of Jesus to the ongoing war, she added, "While right now millions of Palestinians from that exact part of the world are being persecuted and targeted and forced to flee their homes while they are indiscriminately and relentlessly bombed."

Barrera concluded her message, "Merry Xmas." The Mexican actress' post comes more than a month after she was fired from the upcoming "Scream VII" sequel for publicly supporting Palestine.

Last month, the 33-year-old took to her IG Stories to slam Israel for treating Gaza "like a concentration camp," calling the war a "genocide" and an "ethnic cleansing."

One of her Instagram rants read, "Gaza is currently being treated like a concentration camp. Cornering everyone together, with nowhere to go, no electricity no water … People have learnt nothing from our histories. And just like our histories, people are still silently watching it all happen. THIS IS GENOCIDE & ETHNIC CLEANSING."

Unfortunately, Barrera's message didn't sit well with Spyglass Media, the production company behind the American slasher franchise. A representative for the company released a statement announcing that she would be dropped from the franchise because her posts were perceived as "antisemitic."

"Spyglass' stance is unequivocally clear: We have zero tolerance for antisemitism or the incitement of hate in any form, including false references to genocide, ethnic cleansing, Holocaust distortion or anything that flagrantly crosses the line into hate speech."

Following Spyglass' statement, there was an outpouring of reactions from fans and colleagues including director Christopher Landon who wrote on X, "This is my statement: Everything sucks. Stop yelling. This was not my decision to make."

As of this writing, Landon has ended his relationship with the "Scream" franchise. "I guess now is as good a time as any to announce I formally exited Scream 7 weeks ago. This will disappoint some and delight others. It was a dream job that turned into a nightmare. And my heart did break for everyone involved. Everyone. But it’s time to move on," he revealed.

Fans also threw their full weight behind the "In The Heights" actress, promising to boycott the thriller movies.

Barrera Vows To Continue To Speak Out Despite 'Scream VII' Firing

Following her firing, Barrera addressed the situation via a statement, promising not to ever stop being pro-Palestine regardless of the consequences.

"First and foremost I condemn Anti-Semitism and Islamaphobia. I condemn hate and prejudice of any kind against any group of people," she began. "As a Latina, a proud Maxicana, I feel the responsibility of having a platform that allows me the privilege of being heard, and therefore I have tried to use it to raise awareness about issues I care about and to lend my voice to those in need."

She continued, explaining that she spoke out because everyone "regardless of religion, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation or socio-economic status" deserves freedom, dignity, and equal human rights.

"I believe a group of people are not their leadership and that no governing body should be above criticism," Barrera declared before adding that she constantly prayed for the violence and loss of life to end.

Concluding her statement, she sent a strong message to her critics, "I will continue to speak out for those that need it most and continue to advocate for peace and safety, for human rights and freedom. Silence is not an option for me."
