A family purchased $10,000 in Disney gift cards for their upcoming vacation -- only one problem... They purchased Disney+ gift cards, which cannot be used in the Disney Parks.
In a now-viral TikTok, Andie Coston begged the public for help after her parents realized they purchased Disney+ gift cards -- which are specifically for Disney's streaming service -- and not regular Disney gift cards that can be used in the Disney theme parks.
"We finally planned it for this Christmas. All 16 of my family members were going. To save some money, my parents bought 10k of Disney gift cards to purchase our tickets and restaurant reservations," Andie explained in the video.
"I went home this weekend, and they were having problems loading the gift cards correctly and purchasing the tickets," she continued.
Family Purchases $10K In Wrong Disney Gift Cards
Andie then showed the gift cards that her parents purchased. They had an entire stack of $100 gift cards... for Disney+ -- Disney's streaming service -- and not for the Disney Parks.
She went on to explain how they just want to figure out how to get the money in the right form as they "leave in 6 days and the parks are selling out of tickets because it's Christmas. My mom is distraught, Dad frustrated, and the kids worried we won't get into Disney."
Disney Reached Out To Family
Andie's TikTok went viral in a matter of hours, even gaining the Walt Disney Company's attention.
Disney reached out to the family and was able to "turn the $10,000 of Disney streaming gift cards into $10,000 of Disney Parks gift cards."
"I am so glad we were able to get it resolved, especially for my parent's sake. It was also good to hear that my parents are not the only ones who have experienced this," she told PEOPLE.
"I received many messages and comments from people telling me that they or someone they know have had similar experiences. I hope that this story makes more people aware of the card difference so no one else experiences this."
Mom Pays $70 For Disney World Buffet
Just a few days ago, The Blast reported on another viral Disney Parks story involving a mom paying $70 just for her child to eat a bowl of cereal.
Autumn Scott shared a video on social media, sharing her experience at Cinderella’s Royal Table — a buffet-style restaurant located inside Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom. She was visiting Disney World with her friend, Kaitlin, and Kaitlin’s daughter. The three documented their time at the popular restaurant but soon began joking about how much money it cost to dine here.
