T.J. Holmes Says He's 'Sick' Of Introducing A '50-Year-Old' As His 'Girlfriend'

Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes have hinted at the possibility of marriage on an episode of their "Amy & T.J. Podcast." Responding to listener questions, Robach shared that marriage is under consideration, emphasizing their intention to spend their lives together.

Holmes playfully hinted at a potential engagement, expressing a desire to marry Robach due to how awkward it is introducing her as his "girlfriend." The podcast also delved into their evolving relationship and workplace romance.

During the latest episode of their podcast, Robach and Holmes addressed the topic of marriage, noting that it is definitely on the table.

While responding to a question from a listener who asked, "Are you guys going to tie the knot?" Robach answered, "It's under consideration. We did not enter this relationship for fun or for 'Let's see what happens.' We entered this relationship because we intended on spending our lives together. So whether or not we have some sort of legal, you know, I don't know, button on it."

However, considering their previous marriages, the 50-year-old admitted they were not in a rush. "We both have two marriages under our belts, and so it's not something we're racing to or rushing towards," she added. "But there is something, I get it, it's this thing that I can't even explain why there's this desire, but I want to spend the rest of my life with you, I can say that. It's on the table. It's on the table."

During the podcast episode, Holmes, 46, chipped in and joked about a "tiny box" under the Christmas tree, hinting at a potential engagement.

The former news anchor expressed a desire to marry Robach, partly due to her age, stating, "I want to marry you, in part, because you're 50 and I'm 46. And I'm very sick of introducing a 50-year-old woman as my girlfriend. That just sounds stupid."

Robach laughed off the comment, stating: "Thank you for noting the age difference."

Holmes went on to playfully emphasize their age difference, adding: "Everybody knows that! But you're going to be 51 soon, and I'm going to be 46. When you were in high school, I was in elementary school."

"He does this a lot. He loves to point that out!" Robach playfully chimed in, per People magazine.

In another part of their podcast episode, Robach, and Holmes candidly shared details about their evolving relationship and how they fell in love.

Holmes disclosed that "something else was evolving" between them during the summer of 2022. He shared: "We kind of tiptoed around it, and I didn't want to say anything. You didn't want to say anything, but then, as we proceeded through last summer, things definitely changed, and we started having conversations."

Robach added: "We were spending so much time together at work. We didn't want it to end." The former ABC reporter also recalled how they looked forward to weekdays instead of weekends, stating, "I remember us both saying, 'Oh, Fridays are a bummer.' Normally people are excited about Fridays, right? Didn't want it to be Friday, and I was excited about Monday [and returning to work]."

As former co-anchors of "GMA3: What You Need to Know," Robach and Holmes faced scrutiny when news of their workplace romance emerged in November 2022. At that time, neither Robach nor Holmes had officially confirmed their separations from their respective spouses, actor Andrew Shue and attorney Marilee Fiebig.

However, recent reports by Page Six revealed an unexpected twist, disclosing that Robach's ex-husband Shue and Holmes' ex-wife Fiebig are now in a relationship.

During last week's podcast episode, the lovebirds chose not to address the reports about their ex-spouses directly. Holmes emphasized their commitment to avoiding "other headlines." He stated: "We absolutely anticipated that that was going to happen. There's nothing we can do about those."

He noted that their podcast would not engage in a back-and-forth with headlines, adding: "But this place, this podcast, this platform is not and will never be … We are committed to a place that this is not gonna be about gossip, this is not gonna be a place where we clap back at headlines."

"We are not going to get into that back-and-forth game because gossip is toxic," he firmly concluded.
